Fire Marty

Marty obviously isn't going anywhere until the bye week, so if the next 2 games go as poorly or worse as the past 2 (Dolphins, Titans) he could be canned. Never know if he will get some leniency from the FO over the injuries though. I'm not sure any coach could really do great with Hurst and Eluemunor at guard and a receiving corp that has been reduced to back up special teamers.

The Bears game was bad because there just wasn't any chemistry and the players weren't executing- I felt like the playcalling wasn't terrible, but the receivers, line and Flacco were just never on the same page. The Vikings game, however, fully appeared to be poorly called by Marty. Nothing really seemed to be planned well- basing an offense on screens and draws doesn't work against Minnesota's fast LBs and aggressive safeties. There should have been a better plan, and whether it was because of the injuries or not, there wasn't any kind of adjustment as the game went on.

Playcalling is horrendous if we know whats plays they are going to run before the snap the other team definitely knows it too. You rarely see this team make adjustments when something is not working they keep doing it.

The Ravens starting receivers had their best game against The Raiders but all three didn't have a chance to build off that game due to injuries. Even though The Raiders game was The Ravens absolute best performance offensively they still had some good showing against The Browns and Bengals. I wasn't able to watch the game against The Jaguars but I honestly feel like the game against The Steelers and especially The Bears was due to lack of execution by the players. I feel like Ravens would have won or being a better situation to win the game against The Steelers and Bears if not for turnovers and drop passes.
 
I wrote a wrap up article with a bit of a different spin than previous weeks, in case anyone is interested. I kinda touched on a few things in this thread.
 
Marty hates the deep ball, and is out of touch with today's NFL. Is it me or does this whole team think the old school NFL is the way to play? Ozzie went all defense, which has turned out great. Defense is keeping us in games, but it neglected the offense and we are paying the price. Marty in today's pass happy league is afraid to go deep and attempt big plays. Marty needs to go, and let Roman take over at OC after the BYE.
 
I check every day expecting to see that Marty has been fired and every day he's still here. How bad does the offense need to be before Roman gets the job?
 
This FO, owner and Harbs are so out of touch and clearly do not give a shit. Makes it really hard to even back this team. Ravens fan forever though. But no longer defending Harbs. He can take a hike with both his garbage coordinators.

I think Harbaugh wants to evaluate Marty further to see if he can turn it around. That's what I think, after that I think it's really because he doesn't think this offense will be better without him. I don't see why though, Joe is at 10 INTs this year, last year he threw 12 the entire year, and that offense was led by Trestman through 5 games and was literally one of the worst we had here. You can argue that offensively we have legit...regressed since last year.

Keeping Marty was his call, if he fires him then it shows he made a mistake and I doubt he would really want that to reflect on him. Sadly, HCs are naturally egotistical and believe that every move they make is the right move and that's kind of Harbaugh at the moment.
 
The entire offense is dysfunctional to me and needs to be blown up.

I'd keep Yanda, Jensen, Stanley, Howard, Maclin, and Collins and be good to start fresh from there, honestly.

Do you think some college coaches who are on multi year deals would be interested in OC NFL jobs enough to leave early? Mostly thinking Fuente and Mullen here.

I don't know if Fuente has a reason to leave to become an OC in the NFL, but he's exciting. I think what makes Fuente so great is that he is unpredictable. Out of one formation, we might see literally 20 different run plays or play action plays. There is no telling what Fuente will run because he is so unpredictable with his formations.

He's a big user of pre-snap motions for the purpose of jet sweeps and fakes like that, but overall, his offense is really simple. It doesn't use a ton of personnel groupings or a ton of different pre snap motions to confuse the defense. He just lines up and basically runs the play. Problem is, you never know which play.

He's similar to Chip Kelly. He likes to be up tempo and he likes to attack the defense vertically with the spread. Get them moving sideline to sideline and create a lot of space before you go attack them vertically.

The run game would be a bit of a concern for me, but this might be because Tech has a HORRIBLE offensive line that I have this concern. Fuente attacks the edges hard and he expects his guards to pull well. A fairly common play from him is to use a jet sweep motion and then run the play with the guards pulling to the opposite side with the back going opposite the sweep. This usually freezes the interior tackle just enough to let the guard pull free and create a lead blocker with the guard. This offense really needs a good blocking tight end on the edge, though. Fuente wants his guard to be a lead blocker, so he needs the tight end to be able to handle a rusher on the edge.

I think with an interior like Baltimore's, assuming an upgrade at LG is coming, Fuente would probably run more inside runs. He just doesn't have great players in Blacksburg.

Offensively, he might call the exact same formation twice and give the exact same look twice, but you'll get two different plays. On one play, you'll get a bubble screen. Then, he'll give that same look again, but this time the blocking wide receiver will fake the block and slip upfield after the defenders have committed downfield for a long gain. You just never know what's coming with him.

The Ravens will have to improve as a screen team. Better blocking wide receivers and guards. Running back and wide receiver screens are a decent staple in this offense with how spread out the defense gets.

In case anyone was wondering about Fuente's offense. I'm not really familiar with Mullens.
 
The worst part about Marty is that even the players can see how awful he is. I think we've all scene the numerous times players were screaming at him or throwing helmets or some such.
 
Cutting that many players along with some restructures on defense could make enough room to cut Flacco. However, I’d be more comfortable giving him another year with an offensive coordinator that knows what he is doing. Is he going to fix Flacco’s mechanics. No, but he could get more out of him like Kubiak did back in 2014. That’s what we need. Flacco’s got some major flaws to his game without question, but so do the players around him. Flacco isn’t a qb that makes the p,Ayers around him better, like Brady and Rodgers. He needs weapons.
