2018 Free Agency

quite frankly, there is no one available right now that makes us any better of a recieving corps then last year. So do nothing imo..accept the fate.

Cousins is dropping into the dream job.........all that guaranteed cash and having Diggs, Thielen and Rudolph to throw to, bet he’s ecstatic that the skins didn’t lock him up the past couple of years.
And that defense.......only scary part is his oline

I kinda hope it fails. I want all these teams spending metric fuck tons amount of money to all fail misserably lol. At least i know the cheifs will

Really curious to see the value on this one. No idea how to value a guy coming off of a severe injury like that, with only a little bit of playing time last year.

yeah i imagine there will be an injury/retirement waiver in the contract that voids it in certain circumstances - i imagine it will have a yearly avg of around 18mill but im gonna guess that it's a 1-2 year deal with very little guaranteed money and a lot of playing time based bonuses

I agree its too much but thats why i said its the most id be willing to pay. Id rather get him at 3yrs around $18-20M thb. Which is probably what wed offer him

i think he's slowed down too much to be that tight end that hes always been - he's a bit like jason witten now but without the blocking ability...
i wouldnt want a 3 year deal unless its constructed so that we can get out after year 1 or year 2

How about nobody at this point and stop wasting cap on guys that are crap and try to rebuild from the draft and then cut flacco next year?

We could just sit back and let everyone walk and soak in all those compensatory picks in 2019.

Don't forget Dalvin Cook coming back from injury to hand the ball off to in the running game.

Eh, I love Diggs, Thielen and Captain Kirk so I hope it works out for them.

good point about the jets drafting a qb situation from marc sessler:

"In a post-Cousins world, the Jets will rely on GM Mike Maccagnan to pick his third quarterback in four years through the draft. Not many front-office heads get that opportunity."

Lee and Richardson are both gone....

I'm actually not mad. They were a little overhyped on here. This wouldn't solve our problems.

I am starting to question what our strategy here is
Our strategy: dont pay $10M+ per year on average receivers lol. Only player that might live up to his contract at this point is Allen Robinson

I personally figured Richardson for a potential second-tier signing. Didn't expect him to land an $8 million average across 5 seasons.

the thing that gets me about this contract is that half of the entire contract's value is guaranteed...

The market value for WR is rediculous at this point. Idk why anyone would be mad at us for not spending this much on average recievers

At the same time, though, if that's what market value is now, you kind of have to pay it if you want to make improvements. Either that or learn how to draft a damn WR so none of this matters in the first place. It's a tough market and while contracts are high, you can't just sit on your hands and hope something works out either. It might not be something that's in the cards this year with a very tight cap, but it definitely has to be an adjustment next year whether they/we like it or not.
