2018 Free Agency

This is a pretty crappy draft class to be needing a WR, too. Not a ton of talent there that really pops off the screen and they all seem to have their issues. I like Ridley but his frame is so small it worries me he'll be a walking injury coming here and he's an old rookie. I also like Moore but even he has his issues and makes you wonder if he can duplicate it at this level.
damn it's the coconut. Not that you haven't posted before, but it's on a rare occasion. Nice to get some of the old gang back. Hope all is well.

I completely disagree. I don't see many that can become a WR1, but there's a ton of guys in this class capable of being a high end WR2.

There’s fewer at the top but the volume of day 2 wrs is absurd - I think I have twice as many day 2 grades as last year and I’m a big fan of quite a few of them - there’s no Corey Davis but I can see a juju or two

That’s cool. It’s good to disagree. Makes for a healthy environment.

I'm with you. There are guys I like at WR in this class but I'm not sure if any of them are special. I think a lot of them kind of mesh together.

Btw, hi Grim. Don't think we've interacted on here yet. It's rmw10 under my witness protection alias.
Yeah, I know it’s you based on your avatar alone. It’s good to see you casually here. And yeah, I like a lot of these WR but we need a top end guy and not just a high end #2. I honestly feel like the Ravens have a ton of good talent but not a lot of great top end talent. I do think. DJ Moore and Ridley have that potential to be special, but I mentioned they also have concerns. I think this crop of guys are equal to last years and are eerily similar to 2015.

Yep. There’s quite a few guys on the second day who could make a splash for us. I just wonder whether we can develop those guys or even identify them because we’ve struggled in both regards. The best WR I feel like we’ve ever drafted and developed are Torrey Smith and Kamar Aiken (even though he isn’t a draft pick).

I haven’t had the time lately. Working two jobs and recently started working for a major new State organization doing high end activity and the training they have me doing consumes most of my time. Kinda sucks right now lol

Having a top end #1 guy would be great, but it's not necessary. I feel we would be fine with a couple number 2 WRs and a solid oline to boost our running game.

i dont think we've given ourselves many opportunities to develop guys - outside of breshad who's obviously not worked out we haven't invested any high draft capital at the position

and im not sure we need any of these guys to be a number 1 receiver, they just have to be a good receivers and i think there's a lot of guys who have a strong chance of becoming good receivers

We need a guy to eventually become a number 1 WR for us, regardless of when. If you’re saying we don’t need him to be a #1 this year, I agree. If you mean outside this year, I don’t. Simple as that. We do need a guy who can bring some actual excitement to the fan base at WR. That would be nice. As for good vs great, I’m not settling on “good” but I’ll take some good guys but give me a great player. We have a disparity right now on “great” players.

there's a difference between a number 1 receiver and an exciting playmaker - not every team has a number 1 and its not necessary to win games - you need a corps - no team goes deep in the playoffs without multiple pieces at wideout but having a number 1 wr is not necessary

we dont need a julio jones, we need a guy like marvin jones and i think there are multiple guys in this draft class who could be marvin jones or better

and i dont necessarily agree that this draft is devoid of potential number 1s - i think the reason there's not a lot of height to this draft's wr grades is because there are guys who have issues/low floors who might develop into 1s but there is risk or there's the safer guys who will most likely be number 2s

but i have at least 6 guys on my big board who i can feasibly see becoming number 1 type receivers if they pan out

Not that I expect it to happen but I'd be happy if they released Dez and we managed to sign him. Dez and Crabtree would easily be the best WR group we've ever had. Let me dream.....
I'm so with this. Dez and Brown on the outside and Crabtree in the slot. Two fiery and competitive guys catching the ball from Flacco. I'd LOVE this.
