2018 Free Agency

idk i could see the jets retaining mccown or the giants somehow persuading eli to stay or the broncos convincing themselves that they can let him sit behind siemian for a bit and that's just in the top 6

i could definitely see miami wanting him at 11 behind tannehill or the redskins at 13 even if they do keep cousins on yet another franchise tag, or the chargers at 17 or even the bills might want him and hold onto tyrod for another year before parting ways...

there's a lot of teams that could want him and just like the first round in 2017 i dont see how teams arent gonna get nervous and trade up for these guys

a lot of people saw mahomes and/or watson falling down the first round a bit and ultimately getting picked in the 20s but those teams in the 20s got severely nervous and felt the necessity to move up a significant distance
Personally, I never saw Watson falling and leading up to the draft, Mahomes was one of the hottest names for a riser.

I think we ultimately see probably five or so quarterbacks taken and I'm not sure Allen goes top six.

what would constitute a fall for allen in your eyes?
im not sure id consider it a fall unless he wasnt picked in the top 15 or so
im also not sure that a team wont fall in love with allen's traits - it happened with the jags and bortles - the bears also tried to sit trubisky too...

i just look historically at where people get picked and i think you have to use mahomes as a similar type of prospect etc. and he was literally picked at 10

i personally think there's only 4 qbs worth taking in the 1st round but i think lamar jackson might have someone fall in love with the idea of him too at some point in the draft maybe - i think 5 qbs could definitely go in the 1st round and a few more might come off the board early in the 2nd round too

Not a chance Allen falls outa top 12. And if Mayfield falls to 16 hopefully somebody has enough insight to throw Ozzie at the podium with his name stamped on his forehead. These 4 top QBs have to good of raw tools to fall out of top10. I was neg like 100 times for saying Wentz and Goff are going 1 and 2. And we're better than the 2015 QBs but didn't have the team resume's. Like Allen and Mayfield the raw tools are to great. It's not like Blaine Gabbert where coaches thought his pocket presence and accuracy under pressure could improve. And Brady Quinn with serious accuracy issues. These dudes are mentally tough and fearless. The reward at QB is to rich to not draft these 4 dudes. A real franchise QB can turn a team around in a flash. Only have to look at rams and eagles.

Now if Mayfield or Allen is there at 16 and we can create interest for the last franchise QB in the draft and begin a bidding war I would be very happy if a team said screw it and gave us their draft for Allen or Mayfield. Of course I would take that. It could rebuild our roster in a single draft. But something petty like an extra 2 forget about it. Somebody needs to KO Ozzie stamp the QBs name in his forehead and throw him at the podium. If only ravens lost 2 of those close games in 2015 we would be looking at a boatload of picks.

there's just too many qb needy teams for me to see him fall out of the top 15

Darnold and Rosen are going 1 and 2 almost certainly - at least 2 qbs are going in the top 5 picks and then the jets sit at 6 nervously hoping there's at least one left that they like

there's no way i see less than 3 qbs going in the top 6 (unless darnold and rosen dont come out) and then itll be a fight by teams way down the draft (probably until about pick 15 where the cardinals are slated) for who can jump up highest - they might have to jump ahead of miami at 11, or washington (cousins depending) at 13 or arizona at 15 or the chargers at 17

but if he fell to 16 i think the ravens are in for a bit of a draft haul

Mahomes is dumb as a brick. He is not leading an NFL offense

Exactly that- falling past 15.

And you have to consider- it isn't just quarterbacks in the draft. There are other elite prospects who will warrant heavy consideration in the top 10 picks. It isn't as simple as saying take the quarterback because there are some very, very good football players (Barkley, Chubb, Fitzpatrick).

i just think there's so many qb needy teams who might not feel like they normally have a shot at a qb of this calibre because normally theyd be overdrafted even higher - if anything it showed restraint in last years class that a qb didnt go at number 1

then again all of this is me pontificating and until i sort out my board and get grading i wont really know how i feel about these players

A QB of this caliber? Allen isn't some special quarterback prospect like a Luck. Allen is your run of the mill first round quarterback with tantalizing traits that need serious ironing.

How's it going Ray Ray?? You are The most colorful poster here!!

Doin well, thx......how bout you?

well, truth be told, I'm doing horribly. I keep finding myself in the same predicament year after year, ever since 2012. I keep seeing all these old, dried up, has been, dead front office people driving our team into the ground rather than taking the eternal dirt nap themselves. Its the same every year.

idk would you say hes more comparable to paxton lynch in terms of draft position than mahomes then?

Probably. He didn't exactly light it up against top tier competition and played in the FBS, not against actual top tier D1 teams. Sure, Mahomes was raw, but he played for a big name school against big name competition. Allen is like a Joe Flacco, even.

where was lynch drafted? like 25? i guess that would have to be the absolute lower estimate for allen then and i find it hard to believe a team wont fall in love with the traits and take a chance

It was pick 26. I'd be surprised to see him that late, but seeing him in the teens (I think Joe was 18) wouldn't surprise me. Those are the teams that probably need a quarterback, but have someone he can sit behind for now and learn (LA, BAL, BUF).

I wouldn't touch Josh Allen at 16. I'd hope a team sent a kings ransom. I don't think he falls that far. Outside of Rosen I honestly wouldn't touch a QB early. If someone falls to the 4th or 5th that's where I'd pounce. But I could see Rosen, Darnold, and Allen going top 10 and Mayfield himself being a top 15 pick.

Allen has a lot of raw tools... but needs a fuckton of work, moreso than other prospects.

Asking a new QB to come here would be a tall task for the new guy. He'd get massacred here and we'd be spending a higher draft pick on a guy who isn't gonna play for 1-2 years. Sure, it looks good in theory but a new QB is gonna need reps. The defense is set for the next half decade. Fix the rest of the offense with it's other bevy of problems first. Flacco stinks up the joint next season you can sell the farm for a QB then.

All these QBs have top tier skill sets. Accurate, tough and can throw under duress, can lead receivers, smart and instinctful. I could see all these QBs going top10. I have them Rosen Darnold Mayfield Allen. With Darnold and Mayfield very close. When drafting a QB like a WR it's very important to get THE QB not A QB. A QB that makes players around him better. Like Garappolo Goff and Wentz is doing.

even though charges for battery were dropped against jarvis, i just cannot see bisciotti giving the go ahead to go after him
