Exactly - they’d be lucky to get anything for him - the other teams have the leverage because they know the dolphins can’t really afford to pay Landry for the year and they know Landry isn’t signing a long term deal in Miami

And of course while the tag is unsigned there is always the possibility that the tag is rescinded and Landry hits free agency anyway for no draft capital loss
 
I'm honestly pretty terrified of Landry coming here.. I don't really think it will help us out that much. Overall yea he is a pretty good player but don't forget that he wants 15 mil a year. We have a bit over 5 million when you add on draft picks right now.. getting to 15 mil wouldn't be that hard (Maclin, Carr, Howard) but it would mean we lose Wallace, Jensen, and our most underrated player of the year in Hurst. We would would only have Stanely returning and playing the same position. (I'm sure yanda will be fine, but 2/5 returning isn't great either)
I think it would be cool to see TSMITH come back. Great guy and always had amazing chemistry with Flacco.

Landry finds a lot of open spots on the field like Pitta did for the team back in the day. I actually think Landry does a better job of getting open than SSS ever did even though SSS had more YAC potential. That is what the team has needed. The team had a buttload of speed that couldn't get open down the field because the receivers underneath were no threat. I personally believe if the team added Landry and T. Smith, and then signed a receiver in the first 3 rounds in this draft that the team might actually have something going.

There's a part of me that feels that we drafted our way into this mess and we ought to be able to draft our way out.

One free agent match that’s worth watching as we get into next week: #Colts WR Donte Moncrief and the #Ravens. Baltimore is revamping its receiving corps and Moncrief should sign a nice 1-year deal. Could he be this year’s Alshon Jeffery?

silly comparison but ive been on this train for the whole offseason - he will be affordable (hopefully) because of his injuries etc. but in combination with another lower-priced free agent wr we could transform the base of our wr corps very easily - we'd be relying on the draft to top off the changes but i think that's a realistic possibility in this scenario

as much as we have other holes, id be ok with just bringing in wrs in free agency
 
So huge news - jags will not be tagging allen robinson
which surprises me - i thought the reason bortles' contract was constructed the way it was was to open up the cap space to keep robinson too

means the jags could be losing both marquise lee and allen robinson to free agency

all this is doing is decreasing the leverage the dolphins have in any trade negotiation - if im landry now i dont sign the tag if i dont want to play in miami because the dolphins might end up having to keep him

do we actually know if landry has or hasnt signed - there were reports he said he would sign it but none that he actually had - the dolphins essentially only have 6 days left to do something with him

Was going to say, whatever leverage they had in trade talks is now gone. They may have to do what the Panthers did with Josh Norman and rescind the Tag and let him become a FA.
 
Man I love the nfl offseason but free agency and the draft need to come fast because I’m too excited to wait any longer

A WR is only as good as the offense around him. I would be fine with taking a shot at moncrief.
