2018 Free Agency

Hurst is a good backup. If we are relying on him as a starter then this move is utterly foolish.

Please prove me wrong Ozzie.... the line overachieved last season. It won’t happen again. Fix this damn line

i will say this - they arent paying him starter money - the more i look at this deal the more im fine with it - its not a bad start to free agency but its a move that we will reflect on very differently depending on the outcome of the offseason and the way any other additions shake out

James Hurst ain't worth $4 million a year at any position. I've been one of Hurst's strongest defenders but this is bad deal. He doesn't have the feet for tackle or the power for guard.
He’s not going to get that average. He will probably be here no longer than two years with base salary very cheap

Interesting fact on James Hurst: One of just 4 #Ravens, and one of only two nonspecialists, who played in every game over past four years (Hurst, Levine, Koch, Tucker).

Hes cheap and reliable. Good signing

Couldn't we have gave Jensen that contract instead? Now even if Hurst doesn't stay for more than 2 years, that's still dead cap of 2 extra years to deal with once he is released or cut at some point.

If we get more oline starters in FA and/or the draft.. I'm fine with this move. Given that he can be a backup for multiple positions on the line. That $4mil is not as bad as you'd think. If he's a starter, and we ignore the oline.. This is a TERRIBLE move. An oline of

Stanley-Hurst-Skura-Yanda-Lewis is a pathetic one(since we are unlikely to retain Jensen and likely to release Howard).

If we ignore the oline, I don't care if the offseason consists of us getting Allen Robinson, Calvin Ridley, bringing Megatron out of retirement, Jimmy Graham, and Dallas Goedert. This team is FUCKED with a bad oline. Just ask the Giants how well that worked for them.

Wait and see. But I have no hope

Only guaranteed money is dead money. Option bonus are not. It’s probably a reasonable contract. Wait for the details.

jensen's gonna get so much more money than james hurst got

and dead cap is only dead cap if there's guaranteed money in those years... base salary, roster bonuses, incentive money all gets wiped out - the only dead cap would be dependent on his signing bonus
