2018 Free Agency

Ravens know how to waste money on declining players. Shoulda been content squeezing one year out of a 30 yr old career mediocre cornerback. But I know the jackasses running the ravens will keep resigning a player until he is totally cooked to point of benched. That’s when ravens figure out when not to resign a player. The incompetent drafting shouldn’t surprise anybody. Management can’t scout a declining player in front of their noses. How could it remotely scout college?? Lmao. Carr was only mediocre cuz of Peas system dropping everybody in coverage and giving lots of double teams and help. He is gonna get cooked and benched by week 8. Count on it!! $5million more thrown in the river. But those jackasses will be gone after a double digit loss season. When the division sweeps the ravens including the Browns lol
According to you every corner is getting helped. That's kind of not possible physically.

For real though. Why are any of you shocked about these moves???? We all knew Carr was going to stay because of his leadership and dependability. Woodhead had to go because hes injury prone and thats a very underrated problem on this team....your best ability is your availabilty

Pretty sure they started every game for us and Carr held his own for the most part. Not sure if you noticed but one of our biggest problems last year was dependability. Carr and Hurst actually brought some stability to our team. Plus Hurst is cheap and we can still upgrade the position via draft.
For a backup hurst ain’t cheap. I’ve already said I’d have less of an issue with the Hurst deal if he’s a backup. Carr was a massive part in why we lost a few games. We could’ve afforded to let him go even with certain injuries at the CB position. Money that’s best spent elsewhere. I don’t think doom and gloom just yet... but it ain’t looking good on the offensive side of the ball... again. The oline looks bad, the receiving corps will have additions later but it still looks bad.

I agree with the sit and wait crowd, but a few of these moves are just an utter waste of money. Some of them create a further need even though they were playing for pennies on the dollar.

Something will happen. Extensions will be announced, cap will open up. But the fact that our first move was horrid is an unencouraging start. If this is how the rest of the offseason is going to go I don’t want Ozzie as a senior scout. Don’t even throw him a retirement party, just fire him and withhold his severance package.

just gotta hope we get this draft right this year so
Our future can look bright cause regardless of FA we get, we not winning no dam SB this season

Depending on carr? Maybe durability but as far as skill... he is not a good cb

What are you talking about? We all knew we would have to fix this offense via draft, thats all anybody has veen talking about. We dont have the bread to match 3yr $42M (who has had 2 healthy seasons in 4 years) for Robinson or Watkins for 3yr $48M (holy shit he got overpaid). Then Burton gets 4yr $32M and hes been a back up his whole career.

To me it looks like we might have a choice between Ridley or Mcglinchey in the 1st round

Not understanding the disdain for the Woodhead and Carr moves.

Woodhead has hardly played the last several years and when he was on the field for us, our offense became highly predictable. He has a nice skill set but what does it matter if he isn't on the field to actually use it?

As far Carr, I really think people can only remember the Steelers game where AB cooked him. Otherwise, he was generally solid all year. Not to mention, Jimmy and Hill are both questionable for the start of the season. If one of Marlon, Tavon, or Canady were to go down, what do we have? We'd be back to picking up guys like Dominique Franks off the street again.

We were never gonna get a Robinson and that Burton contract screams an offseason overpay to me.

Not mad about that. Don’t put words in my mouth. I’m mad that we keep these types that literally are the NFL. equivalent of Kevin from The Office. People like Hurst provide little tangible benefit to the team and have no point as starters. Who cares if he’s durable. It just means he can keep sucking when he’s on the field. No thanks.

We need to fix this oline. We need to fix this WR corps. Both can be done in FA and the draft without the top guys but damnit we make it harder on ourselves when we waste money on people we’d be better without like Hurst and Carr. Then we open up another need in backup rb by releasing Woodhead?

It’ll get better but this is a terrible start.

No hes not good when matched up one on one vs AB....but who is. Otherwise, i think he did ok. We still have the best secondary in our division
We still have the best defense, which is why all this doom and gloom top 3 talk is bullshit. You get us a interior rusher in the draft or something and we’re talking about the best defense we’ve had since 2011.

The offense is concerning. We’re a mediocre team. Literally a fixed offensive line and an average receiving corps will turn this team into a playoff unit.....

Keeping people like Hurst and Carr don’t make it easy though

I just really dont get the disdain for Hurst and Carr. I mean its only like a $7M Cap hit for both of them when we can easily part ways with them next year with virtually no dead money. I really dont see what the fuss is about. You make it sound like they are terrible players...

First half of the year he was good. The 2nd half he wasn't. However we needed him either way. Next year we are going into the season with a ton of CB's coming off of injury. He may end up being a back up but he's dependable.

.....
HURST IS A TERRIBLE PLAYER. He “got better” by becoming the worst player in the league to a way below average starter. That $7 million is better used elsewhere and we all know it. Smh
