BTW guys Kirk Cousins - fully guaranteed 3 year contract with the vikings for $86 mill if he accepts it - he's visiting them once the league year opens on wednesday - they believe they've got him and probably wont let him leave the building

Holy shit i think weve found what a metric fuck ton is....makes Flaccos contract look lucrative as hell

interesting note - there's a lot of 3 year deals this year - if anyone was at all confused about why then ill point out that it coincides with the first offseason after the next CBA

So is Sammy Watkins, only difference is $14M per year
Again, stop putting words in my mouth. I never said anything about Watkins. Your self righteousness doesn’t invalidate my statement. The hurst contract is a waste of valuable resources no matter how you spin it. He’s a terrible starter. Horrible. And for a backup that’s a ton of money.

I had been hearing rumblings of an approximately 90m guaranteed contract over the last week. That gives him approximately 135m over 5 since he made appr 45m over the last two seasons the Potomac Drainage Basin

more fun stats:
spotrac just tweeted this out in relation to cousins - Over the past 3 years, on average, just 34% of a free agent contract is guaranteed at signing. It’s the single most important figure to watch for.

Cousins is getting 100% fully guaranteed

Absolutely ridiculous. Cousins is a good QB but I don't think he's nearly as good as the hype would suggest.

also gonna point out that 86 mill fully guaranteed is the offer that has made him come and visit not an offer he's actually agreed to (although both sides seem fairly confident that this is the team-player combination that's going to happen and that both sides want to happen) - i imagine there's possibly some leeway there - i cant imagine the vikings would balk if he said he's leaving unless he gets that last 4 mill on the deal...

I love how all the hardcore homers convincing himself Robinson was overpaid. Lmao then applauded tony Jabronison and Williams contracts. You all would be doing back flips if we signed him. Moncrief is a scrub. His max is what u saw with Luck b4 injury.
His max is what he had in his second season in the NFL? Fuck off

but this is starting to get close to the essence of just how underpaid franchise qbs are vs other sports and because of the salary cap etc. - this sort of contract should be close to the norm for franchise qb contracts but the salary cap prevents it from happening really so far

ive gotta think that matt ryan and aaron rodgers are about to get close to this deal (maybe even get even more money)

Im not putting words in your mouth. Im just saying theres much worse deals out there than Hurst. He gives us depth at virtually every position on the Oline and hes very comfortable with our scheme. The market has shifted so it makes sense that he got that money as a backup.

I think most sports contracts are just getting way too ridiculous, in all honesty. Can't imagine when we're paying players $50+M a year in any sport.

If Jimmy didn't get hurt again, we don't pick up Carr's option. Yeah we miss out on WRs but I'm sure Ozzie has something up his sleeve. Wouldn't be surprised if we are trying to get Dez from Dallas.

We need a outsider in the front office badly, been doing the same thing every off season and now it's caught up to us using an out of date system. Every other team in the league is using the new school playbook, while we still build teams like its 2000.

Idk Jon Gruden acting like he wants to go back to the 90s.....

if the businesses are making more money - then the players will make more money...
and inevitably contracts will increase until sports stops being sports because inflation naturally happens

the contracts seem ridiculous but they dont exist in a vacuum - if the nfl wasnt making more money than ever then the salary cap wouldnt increase and the contracts wouldnt get bigger...
