I do think that another FA signing ala Dez Bryant and/or Jordy Nelson could do big things, as well as a high draft pick. But I ain't happy. With what little money we have we spend it on a scrub olinemen who was a well below average player last year and an unproven low upside slot WR. GTFOH with this nonesense

I hear you, dude. It's frustrating, no doubt. Just trying to make light of things. I swear, NOTHING is easy with this team. But that's what made our last SB victory even sweeter.

Honestly if Robert Grant actually turns out to be pretty good or overall better than he was last year than this statement may look silly. Albert Wilson who had a similar stat to Ryan Grant is expected to get a 24 million doller deal to my understand. Most of these wide receivers are getting paid more than expected.

the more im watching the more comfortable i feel - still worried about the lack of production but less worried about the player in terms of qualities and style and skills
 
I think we just need to land a top receiver in the draft to nail this new look WR corps, and dont forget about Maclin either a healthy year from him suddenly surrounds Flacco with reliable targets.

albert wilson's deal is only for 3 years too - i dont know how much guaranteed money he got though

im pretty sure maclin is gonna have to go in order to clear some cap space for these moves

ryan grant is not as bad as @Lost_In_Translation makes him out to be... the figures are atrocious but the player is a lot better than the numbers indicate. the redskins have consistently had the most loaded wr group in the league for a while, really up until the eagles and rams started loading up. pierre garcon, jamison crowder, desean jackson, jordan reed, niles paul, rob kelley, terrell pryor and josh doctson, all either receivers or receiving options, and a good number of these guys have been there quite some time. ryan grant never stood a chance in washington and yet still put up some solid wr3 numbers, and numbers aside, he shows exactly whats missing from our wr corps. good understanding of routes, good execution of the playbook, elite hands, attacks the ball very well, can separate in single coverage, can catch when not separated, can sit in soft spots, plays hard and physical.

if we were dying to throw 14m and probably a 3rd for jarvis landry, why are we not ok with this? he has the same skillset. if he wasnt caught up in such a logjam theres a chance he gets paid quite a bit more.

I really like the signing, just wish it had been for less money. As for the production, he had to contend with Crowder, Doctson, Reed/Davis depending on availability, and Thompson so there were a lot of hands in the pot there. I actually like the signing here and as for Brown, well if he can stay healthy, we could be rewarded immensely.

When you lay it all out and look at the numbers and his film. Theyre essentially paying for wr3 production which is 500 yards per season which is what grant was last year for the Skins. Now with more reps he could bring you wr2 production which for us is about 750 and i think thats where his ceiling ends. The good news is that only about $13M of tgis deal us guaranteed so thats basically the equivalent of what we paid Maclin. I think this guy shows that the ravens FO is actually starting to look at different traits from a reciever valuing reliability, route running, and hands. Grant checks all those boxes and yes we were kind of forced to dig in the scraps and TRY to find a gem.

The market has shifted so you have to find different ways of comming up with production. I still fully expect more moves to happen for a WR1 via draft or trade if need be. If we bring in Jordy Nelson and draft Ridley/Moore id be very comfortable with our WR corps
 
I think it's also worth mentioning that when Brown makes it onto the field, there's virtually no ball that he cannot run under. Flacco cannot overthrow him; it's literally not possible.

Provided Brown stays healthy and assuming our staff/coordinator/scheme can accentuate what Brown and Grant do well, we'll likely have a better room..

I honestly dont think the contract is as bad as it seems i mean its only $13M guaranteed over 4 yrs. Thats really not that bad and should be easy to get out of if it fails. Its not a bad deal for the player we are getting. ESPECIALLY IN THIS MARKET. I mean have you seen all the other deals????? Bold prediction but i bet Grant out produces some of those guys that got those mega deals
 
From Brian McFarland RSR (speculating on the contract): "We'll have to wait for the details. There's a big difference between what's called guaranteed & what is truly guaranteed. Based on details so far, $14.5M guaranteed is likely the $10M bonus and the 1st 2 yrs of base salary - $1M and $3.5M, the 2nd yr guaranteed for "injury" only."

I hated the Hurst signing. IMHO, I am not impressed with him at all starting anywhere on our line, and he was given way too much for a backup. For me, it is the worst move so far.
