What? That makes no sense. Hurst was a bad guard no way he can play right tackle. And the schedule of pass rushers LOLB/LDE we’re going to be playing. Miller, Bosa/Ingram, Houston, Garrett, and Cam Jordan just to name a few. Those guys lined up against Hurst can single handedly ruin our offense.

Oh, dog-walked. Most likely his worst game of the season in pass protection. He would at times either abandon the slide after the first shuffle, flip his hips and attempt to shove the edge rusher past the pocket or he would step towards the defender with his outside foot and then bring his inside foot forward, almost ensuring an outside entry point. Here's what I'm referring to from that exact game (Link1, Link2, Link3). I personally thought he'd fare better in pass protection on the inside, where he actually held his own this year. But his issues on the outside from the previous years haven't disappeared. I'm perplexed by the sentiment that places him confidently as our solution at RT. In my eyes, he may have one of the most unrefined pass blocking sets at OT that I've seen from a player with as much starting experience.

Forgot about that game. You're probably right then, he's paid to play guard. In which case we'll need either a C or a RT in the draft. Don't know what to expect from Lewis. Fortunately it's a good OL draft.

I’d be happier if Hurst was off the damn team. I pray to fucking god that he’s a backup, otherwise we are fucked

Then let some other fucking team make the foolish decision to start him. For god sakes he’s fucking terrible and was NOT a reason for the turnaround. We should be ashamed for our fucking stupidity by keeping him.
 
If Hurst is our starting RT, Flacco will have nightmares every night. He may be worse than Kipp Vickers was!

Grant isn’t a total liability every time he’s on the field. Hurst is. Grant actually upgrades us at a position of need. The money is where we shoot ourselves in the foot. Hurst sucks AND he’s overpaid.

Hurst was decent in Romans gap scheme this year. He was consistently nailing his pull blocks and held up well In pass protection. It's when he plays tackle when he is hot garbage and ruins any chance at winning

Except for the fact that he wasn’t. He and Skura were well below average pieces. As bench players I can live with them. Neither of them should be anywhere near a starting lineup.

Mark my words. Those two are two of the starters on the interior it won’t matter if we pull out an in his prime Jerry Rice and Megatron to play for us. The offense will still suck ass. They will not have a repeat performance, they suck

Both of them, absolutely, but I don't have a problem with Hurst at left guard so long as we don't have a liability at C

It's also only a 10m signing bonus. This and his yr one salary is what they are on the hook for. The other guaranteed money is most likely team options and roster bonus in years 2. I agree with McFarland, this is a reasonable contract if in fact this is true.
