Not sure, but also am not convinced that he is valued as high as some seem to think. That said, teams with cap room and a bona fide need often over pay.

Agreed, I just wonder how much we would value him and what we'd be willing to match at a top end amount

Whatever comp pick we get for Jensen is not gonna have a chance of being cancelled out by any of the contracts we’ve given out this time around even if Jensen doesn’t net us a 3rd he’ll net us a 4th... but depending on the contract he should net us a 3rd
Unless im mistaken we have signed 2 ufa, and lost 1 (jensen) so we won't get any comp picks. The first rule of comp picks is you have to lose more ufa than you sign

Just a guess, but I think the limit is around the # I mentioned, $8.5 mil. And considering his durability, a big chunk guaranteed.

I haven't been posting much but I have been tracking stuff, just been busy. Here is what I think for all 0 that care so far.
Love the Ryan Grant singing. We have never done a WR move like this before and I have not heard a single negative thing on him. Great potential to be a deadly second option or decent 1B. He doesn't drop passes and has a deadly stiff arm move. John Brown, eh would have rather kept Wallace, to be honest, I don't think he will amount to much and will probably get hurt. Fucking love the James Hurst singing. Not only was he cheap and can play 4/5 positions, It gives us one of the better pulling guards in the entire league which is great for all the fans of Alex Collins. Those guys wrecked people together. Happy with everyone we cut, sad to see Webb is gone but it had to be done. He should return in the ring of honor. Iffy on Howard. I really hope the Hurst resign means a plan to move Lewis to tackle.

TE wise, much rather draft a young guy and hope for the best than sign Ebron or JT. Ebron is going to cost so much just based off this WR market (he's just a big wr really). Boyle and Maxx are good blockers and eh options. Would love to take even 2 Te in the first 4 picks. (Or one TE one bigger WR)
I think Christian Kirk is ruled out with Ryan Grant, they would likely have similar roles. Makes me wonder if we are interested in Sutton.
No chance the bears draft a WR but I won't even get my hopes up on Ridley.
I love these moves. It is classic Ravens. Hurst will prove to be a bargain. Probably Urban too if he stays healthy.
Also, if Ryan Grant does become a star, my first name is Grant so that would be a pretty cool jersey to snatch. Back to sleep and school work I go.

I am going to be honest. After cutting Howard and not having a decent Tackle to fill his spot. I would prefer trading back a few spots and drafting Connor Willams. I like Williams over Brown because he can also fill in at LT and Brown’s poor Combine worries me. I would say Tackle is more of a priority than WR. I would bring back Campanaro if possible. He has decent hands, can play slot and is a good returner. I was also glad to finally see Camp have a good stretch at the end of the season finishing without an injury. Therefore IMHO, I would go Williams over Ridley. Don’t beat me up too bad for that.

I would never, ever call improving the OL the wrong choice.

Just a matter of who we like more when we are on the clock and what we expect to be available at each position in the later rounds.

of course it does. The 7.5m we just converted to signing bonus gets spread over the remaining years of Williams contract and will raise his cap number in the next 3 yrs of his deal (2.5m per year)
Not the end of the world then. Only restructure that’ll truly kill us is Flacco

2 separate insiders have suggested he's gonna get paid double figures yearly avg at least - its gonna be a big deal whatever it is

they have to be of equal value to cancel out the comp pick - if jensen pulls in a 3rd/4th round level comp pick then it wont get cancelled because ryan grant's contract is equivalent to a 5th rounder and john brown to a 6th (or at least those are the projections)

if we were to lose mike wallace or someone else to a similar contract to the grant or brown contracts then we wouldnt receive that comp pick because they cancel out but unlikely we lose the ryan jensen comp pick if he does pull in his expected contract value

Source: the Ravens converted $7.5M of NT Brandon Williams’ $8.5M 2018 base salary into a signing bonus, creating $5.625M in cap space for 2018.

we have no idea when this happened right? restructures normally leak days later dont they?
or is this a signifier that we might be signing someone - i think this would leave us with around 9m cap space (not including future draft picks)

The comp pick can go to Hell. I love comp picks but at this juncture we need guys who can actually play. As for money being obligated for future years, I would simply just not worry about it because I think the plan is to dump Joe Flacco and move on from him ASAP. That would get us out from underneath the mountain of debt we’ve put ourselves into over these recent years. That’s why I would really like to draft a QB in the first even if we need to trade up to do it. If we feel we can get that guy, we absolutely must trade up to get him. This is probably the best draft to do it. The other position groups just aren’t strong but I really like the QB class at the top.
