2018 Free Agency

they have to be of equal value to cancel out the comp pick - if jensen pulls in a 3rd/4th round level comp pick then it wont get cancelled because ryan grant's contract is equivalent to a 5th rounder and john brown to a 6th (or at least those are the projections)

if we were to lose mike wallace or someone else to a similar contract to the grant or brown contracts then we wouldnt receive that comp pick because they cancel out but unlikely we lose the ryan jensen comp pick if he does pull in his expected contract value
Im pretty sure thats wrong.

Almost 100 percent certain if you sign more ufa than you lose you wont get a comp pick no matter the level of player signed or lost

I'm almost positive you are correct as well

NFL compensatory pick Rules
All 32 NFL teams are allowed up to four compensatory picks, and they're only awarded to clubs that signed fewer players than they lost via free agency. That does not include players cut, players released after signing the year before or players making the league minimum.Mar 23, 2015

I changed the article and reposted a different link

You could lose aaron rodgers, sign perriman and get no picks. 1 signing cancels the other out
It does say in the article that it is a closely regarded secret, but I'm pretty sure you have to lose more players.

That would suck using the Rodgers / Perriman example.

you are both right - the reason it rarely matters is because most teams lose numerous UFAs who dont get qualifying contracts for comp picks because they are vet minimum type signings but who still count as free agent losses...

we likely lose howard (who because he had an option rather than being cut counts toward the comp pick formula), wallace, jensen and a couple of other randos like terrance west, steve johnson, brandon boykin, luke bowankwo and even crockett gillmore

I saw his pff grade and deleted my post right after. I know it doesn't mean everything but it does mean something
Lmao. To be fair he had freaking nobody next to him at either Guard spot. The Dolphins are legit worse off on the line than we are by a long shot. If he had decent guys next to him I doubt he would’ve been that bad.

That's where the GM comes in. If he signed Perriman then he better sign more or get canned.

Well he would have Yanda next to him. I say if he doesnt want too much sign him as our new center.

Pouncey asked to be released from the Dolphins because they wouldn't give him a raise. Seriously doubt he'll want to come here for less money (unless he wants to try and beat his brother twice a year).
