2018 Free Agency

I wouldn't. if it was Robinson vs one of them, then it's no contest. But Robinson or an entire above average receiving corp, I'll take the latter. Too many times our passing offense has been shut down by the other team just double covering our one good WR.

I don't know about above average. And yes, I would, because that would also force this team to address an obvious position of need during the draft. I hope this doesn't make the FO feel comfortable with what we currently have. Well see how it works, but I have an idea about what people will be saying at the end of the season.

Actually looking back at this. It’s a slightly above average corps that compliments itself well.

Crabtree is still a high end #2 and is the red zone target Joe is desperate for. One of the better 50/50 ball guys in the game. Sneaky after the catch and over the middle. He fits the offense like a glove.

John Brown is also a high end #2 when hes healthy. When healthy he’s one of the best deep threats the game has to offer but he’s so much more.

Willie Snead also fits the offense like a glove. Not good log speed but he’s got hands like glue, is a good route runner, and a chain mover. Solid after the catch as well.

All three of them are better than any WR we had last season and SOO much more reliable it’s not even funny. Even with Crabtree’s dropsies he’s a far superior player to anyone we had last year.

We still need two more guys..... Brown is never healthy. But we’ve gotten A LOT better. It’s a good start. But the problem isn’t solved yet. we need another WR, TE, C, and RT if we really want to compete Again. Which is doable with this draft class(it’s not nearly as bad as some indicate). We need to trade back though.

Ozzie basically signed Crabtree, Brown and Snead for the same yearly price as Jarvis Landry.
Which was exactly the counterpoint when some were crying about not being players at the beginning of FA. Considering the WR market and cap they were never going to sign Jarvis, Robinson, etc.. What made sense was what they ended up doing.

Seems Oz and Co. did the best they could with the $ they had. But after the past few years I’m reserving full optimism until we are a few games into the season.

I would say still average but definitely improved from last season’s group. The draft could potentially make it above average.

To me they're a fine group but there’s a reason they were all available which is why this wr overhaul really needs to continue through the draft

We can’t rely on the availability of smokey and Snead necessarily

I like a few of the top receivers in this year’s draft. The problem is, I honestly am not sure if I like Calvin Ridley, DJ Moore, or Sutton better. I like Sutton for his size, and think he can be a serious scoring threat. Ridley has great hands and seems so well rounded. I love Moore’s aggressiveness, he will fight any DB to bring in a catch. Because of that, I would entertain all trade back offers if we are serious about going wide receiver with our first pick because I believe we could land one in a trade back and I like all three a lot, just not sure about picking one up at 16.

2014. 2014 Steve Smith Sr wasn’t what he used to be but was still a #1, Torrey was a good #2, and Daniels was a good TE.
lol..... one guy who was an old warrior that was often hurt, a great guy as a person that was one dimensional and an old TE that was a decent fill in for half a season. That’s pretty damn bad for a team with tournament aspirations.

Our issue that season wasn’t the offense. Our CB group was even worse when Jimmy went down and cost us a likely super bowl appearance.

It got the job done. Unsexy but effective. Which is something I wouldn’t mind again. You don’t need an amazing WR corps to win a super bowl.

I assume this means the Saints will match since it's La Canfora, but...

Jason La Canfora‏Verified account @JasonLaCanfora
Willie Snead set to become a Baltimore Raven next week. Saints not planning to match offer sheet

god dammit, when will that douche learn to keep his mouth closed @Dom McRaven

We need some sort of auto adjustment from to $*#%*$ whenever his name is mentioned. Anyway that is possible @purplepittabread88.
Why is his name still present on this board? More importantly, why does he have the Ravens name in his mouth? LOL this is laughable.

In the Flacco era, I believe that was by far the best offense we had. Steve and Torrey were an incredible duo, and Justin was a beast. Flacco played well and same with the line. Jimmy doesn't get hurt there is no doubt we make the superbowl (IDK about a win but we'd be there) That was an extremely efficient offense.

Ozzie basically signed Crabtree, Brown and Snead for the same yearly price as Jarvis Landry.

This is why Ozzie was a GM for so long. Other GMs go out and sign ONE player to a MEGA contract, that player fails to live up to said contract and that GM is no longer a GM within a couple years. Ozzie meanwhile says, I'll sign 2-3 players at the same cost that you signed ONE player. Hopefully Eric does the same and stays the course from that stand point.

Also is Snead officially ours or can the Saints still match if they want? If so, now let's go get DJ Moore and another WR in the draft to round out our WR group in 2018.
