The 2021 Offseason Thread

Also worth mentioning that when Wade was drafted, he was mentioned as a slot guy. He hasn't played in the slot here. Stephens has stepped up and looks a lot further along than most expected... operating in the slot at times. Ar'Darius Washington played more slot than S last game. Averett has gotten some run at slot.

If he can't play outside (we know he can't) and he's that far down the line inside, then what value does he have?

and he's not getting any run in a hybrid safety role either - again we're seeing stephens play there though and we know jimmy can play that type of role

You’ve been talking about Washington having no shot at making this team since we signed him lol. I got you though, a spots opening up, from day one I would’ve wanted Washington over wade. My fear at this point is that someone like Boykin takes Washington’s spot as the 53rd man. I don’t believe in westry either, I’m liking warrior a lot so far but I’m just not convinced that westry long term would be the play over Washington.

warrior's play and usage in week 2 has massively made me rethink his chances given wink's comments about being comfortable in what they have in him at safety and seeing what he can do at outside corner...

still not sure he makes it but where he was an afterthought for me when he got injured, he's now very much in that bubble conversation

Warrior is a super interesting case. Last year, we had complete shit depth at S and he never got a chance, so you kinda figured he was on the outs. But whatever happened, he's seemingly developed well and has put himself strongly in the conversation.

Oh nooooooo.. you got me confused bro. Westry is who i said wont make it and i even said i wouldnt be surprised if wade dnt make it.. one thing i dnt do is flip flip lol.. if i think yo ass trash, im gone stick with that till proven otherwise..
You right you right, that was sizzle that was dead against Washington having a shot lol, had to do a thread search

It's fun seeing all of the people on Twitter saying that it should have been Averett. Can't believe people still think he sucks

the big problem for both him and geno stone last year seemed to more be that neither of them were options on special teams - geno's clearly in the 1st team special teams unit this year and warrior's been getting some preseason special teams snaps (not with the 1s though which would suggest he's still on the outs somewhat)

Wouldn't completely surprise me if there's a player swap... NE has some interesting T depth

hadnt even considered that because of how much we covet draft picks (but then again so does NE)

but not sure who we'd want - they're not gonna send us a starter lol so maybe it's justin herron? but he's the leader in the clubhouse to be their swing tackle i think

Still looking like at least one guy has to be on the outside looking in...

CB: Humphrey, Peters, Smith, Averett, Young, Westry, Warrior
S: Clark, Elliott, Stephens, Stone, Levine, Washington

Can't see them carrying 13 guys in the secondary, but 12 should be in play with how many we seemingly go through. I'd honestly lean toward Levine being the odd man out but not sure they'd be willing to do that after cutting Richards and then losing Fort... not a lot of vets left on the ST units.

Just an interesting thought based on the depth chart. Cajuste has been injured the last 2 years but apparently been playing well this year. Cunningham has been the 2nd team RT. Herron has been the swing T but may be falling out of favor with Cajuste stepping up. They just drafted another in Sherman. And that's all behind Wynn and Brown.

And yes I've learned all of this on Twitter in the last 15 minutes.

I am also laughing at how many people think Shaun Wade is a superstar. Did no one watch last year's tape?

tbh not sure how they even keep 12 but they've done it before and if any year would warrant keeping 12 it would with all the talent there this year especially as basically all of the bubble guys can play special teams

right now ive got it as 11 and warrior and washington both miss out but could see levine missing out (initially potentially and being brought back in after bateman to i/r) to keep an extra guy and end up with 12 afterwards but even then you still leave 1 of these guys off - and based on usage that would likely be washington

i think we see this a fairly similar way - at best 1 guy misses out and you hope he lands on the PS but there's a scenario where there's no cutdown day shenanigans and we end up losing 2 of these young guys
