yeah these stats are wrong - Big Ben had a higher drop percentage - I think Lamar's actual drop percentage was below 7%
either way it's not good but this is an incorrect stat - 6 QBs had higher drop percentages per pro football reference and i know for sure that SIS had Big Ben ahead too
what kills me is that some of these throws weren't just accurate but excellent - the one to andrews against the chiefs was a beautiful throw
obviously hollywood features a lot but you have to hope that the way he finished is an indicator of what's to come - the vast majority of his clips came in his "slump" period

Was thinking the same thing about Hollywood. Seems like he could have actually really been close to or over 1000 yards if he didn't drop a ton of catches he should have during that stretch. He had a good year, but idk maybe without the slump and the whole Soulja thing he would have had the season everyone wanted out of him. In retrospect I think he was way closer to what we wanted and I'm excited for him next year.
He had a pretty good year. His mistakes just got magnified because they happened to come right after the Soulja tweet and that's never a good look. Just happened to have a rough stretch of his own doing right after that. But I was pissed at him at the time too. I knew he could be better but just poor timing to call out the team and then go out there and suck lol
if you take the 4 games in that stretch and remove them from his year then he was averaging 59.5 yards/game and if you extrapolate that over 16 games you get 952 yards...
to put it in perspective in those 4 games he had 55 yds total which is lower than his avg per game over the rest of the season
he had 6 catches on 17 targets in those 4 games (he had a couple of other games with lower than ideal catch %s but this was the bad stretch)
but generally when taken as a whole in the lowest volume and least productive passing game in the league he was pretty effective - obviously you want more and you can't really excuse that slump but that's not bad
i was mad too because i saw all the talk of him being a bust and knew that it wasn't true because i was watching him on the film and had been all season and i'd watched tons of him in college and catching has never been an issue for him until this year...
just looked like he lost complete confidence in his hands and it became a vicious cycle

Idk how they calculated it and what sources they use. I did break it down per team as it's easier to look at team totals instead of looking at each game.
Ravens receivers dropped 4% of all attempted passes (Lamar, RG3, Trace and Huntley) which is 7th highest in the league.
Then I excluded throwaways etc... and they dropped 5.9% of these passes (still 7th).
Contrary to popular believe our receivers only dropped 1 percentage point more passes than the league average.
It happens to the best wr corps. I think we overvalue drops because we don't pass as much as as the rest of the league. And I believe our drops happened during crucial moments.
Route running and ultimately getting open is more of a concern than catching for our receivers.

I know really unfortunate. But maybe in the long run it will be a net positive. He called out the team but was also playing poorly and had to get himself on track. Which he did. It might have been worse for him to still be killing it and have the team be losing, because that may have just made things worse.

Agree with all of that. I have high hopes for him. Especially if w can bring in literally anyone else who is a legitimate threat

If we get 13, does one of Pitts, Smith, or Waddle remain available 13? HIGHLY DOUBT Smith does, but I dunno about the other two.
no - not trading up for anyone lol - almost never worth it especially in the 1st round if not for a QB - at 13 if you're not getting one of the top receivers, you're probably getting one of the top OL which is fine by me
or you're trading down lol

I’d say Waddle should be there most definitely. I’ve seen Smith go as high as Miami lol

Even if it’s just to get in front of NY? Pitts would make the decision of letting Mark walk much more easier...
there's lots of cool players in this class - and premier talents at other positions that i'd rather take the guy who falls (or trade down) than give up picks to go get a guy who statistically is probably no better than a just over 50% chance of panning out
the only place in the draft with a meaningful success rate in terms of picking is in the top 5 where the success rate climbs to around 75(ish)% (depending on various arbitrary measuring differences)...
to me it doesn't matter how much i like a player, unless they're a quarterback i'm not giving up extra capital to go and get them - i have just as high a chance of succeeding by sticking at my spot with the added bonus that i get to keep my other picks
it's why trading down is way more valuable than almost any other manoeuvre you can make on draft day - the trade charts are all wrong basically - if you as the trade-down team can get compensation in line with those charts then great (good for you) but even if you don't manage to recoup quite that much you're still likely winning the trade
Pitts looks great but i'm not giving up extra capital for him - EDC talked last year about the idea of trading up for someone good and literally mentioned in the pre-draft process that the only way they would be trading up more than a couple of picks is if they had a chance to get Chase Young (literally mentioned him by name)
Id rather stay put and grab batesman
If it was julio or AP yea.. gotta admit i havent watched much of pitts at all but i dnt think id ever move up that far for a TE

It doesn’t matter how good a TE prospect looks, you can’t quantify whether or not a prospect can be in sync with Lamar the way andrews is, you could sign Travis kelce or George kittle and you still might not get nearly the same level of play, because what andrews does for the ravens is something only andrews does, he’s on some telepathic shit with Lamar.
you don’t replace that guy. Replacing andrews with Lamar, is like trying to replace boldin with joe, except andrews has been at this with Lamar for 2 full seasons, boldin was at it with joe for a playoff run.
I will die on this hill, mark andrews is the one and only key to the ravens passing game, you can replace any player on the ravens offense except for Lamar and andrews.
