Mock Central

Minkah Fitzpatrick fs rd 1
Dj moore wr rd 2 possible trade up with our 4th
Sony michael rb rd 3
Frank ragnow guard rd 3 projected comp
Dallas goedert te Somehow.
Mink won't be available
DJ Moore would be a big reach there
Wouldn't hate it, but I'll pass on rbs this year

Dj moore will be gone by the end of round 2 i think. He's top 3 wr in my book
Just because he may be gone doesn't mean he wasn't a reach. Moore is very raw and his ability to be more than a Bubble screen guy is in question. I like his potential, he's a great YAC guy, decent speed and size, but a bit of a clap catcher and ran mostly end-arounds and bubble screens, he made a deep play here and there but to me he didn't look very impressive on contested catches and his route game is nonexistent, every route is rounded off with low effort.

He's the epitome of what the ravens need to avoid like the plague, the kinda guy that has failed us time and time again being a raw project kinda guy like Perriman, correa, kaufusi, etc.

Give me Anthony miller, cedrick Wilson and deon Cain in the second over Moore all day, all are far more refined and savvy and well rounded being able to run a full route tree at a high level and catch the ball consistently(Miller has a few drops but they're few and far between and he doesn't clap catch so I'll trust his hands more)

You put Cain and Wilson in the same tier?

I'll come back to this in a few years. Think moore will be a top player

And he very well may be, but as of now he looks like a project and we can't risk a high pick on a project. Hindsight is always 20/20, correa was a project and if he panned out everyone would hail ozzies genius but the project busted and it's all "you knew he was a project why would you pick him!"

I see it differently. I see a guy thats a yac machinen and will make things happen in a west coast system. Turn those 5 yds in 15. I see a good player and will pick him all day.

On a side note i like ronald jones as a rb as well as sony Michael. Think love will be gone before our 2nd

He has to get the separation and secure the ball before he can get the YAC though, do you trust him to develop his route game well enough to excel in a west coast? Do you trust his clappy hands to catch a ball that may be a hair behind him on a crossing route? I don't.

I'm sure his game will develop, but how much can he develop is the question, if he makes huge leaps then his natural abilities can make him excellent, but if he has an average development or doesn't develop at all, then he will be a bust. You see a good player, I see a POTENTIALLY good player, emphasis on potentially lol. I'm not taking chances that early on a guy who needs a ton of development

i really dont see why drew lock is so buzzy around nfl circles - to me he looks like a late day 3 prospect at the moment at best - potentially undraftable and absolutely should be going back to school (and i expect him to do so tbh)

what would you say are the surprises?
I was surprised he had Dallas Goedert as the best TE in the class. He’s right after Mark Andrews for me and as I said last week, I’d love Goedert on the Ravens. I was also surprised he had Michel as the 10th best back. I see him as a much better back 2nd round at worst 3rd.

Im surprised he doesnt have Iman Marshall in his top 10 for corners. Seems blasphimous

Charlie Campbell mocking Calvin Ridley and jaylen samuels. Hmmm, interesting combo. Idk what to think of samuels though. Excellent prospect in terms of size and speed, he's a big powerful back but plays like a 3rd down scat back, he has shown to play quality snaps at inline TE showing a little bit of blocking prowess and does well with chips and breaking off routes, but I've also seen a lot of his big plays come from horrible coverage where he just sprints from the snap and nobody follows him, I haven't looked deeply into him but could anyone tell me if he runs quality routes and can be gain separation at the next level? Does he have the athleticism to make plays when the defense doesn't blow the coverage? Does he fit with our offense and will he have a role? And does he have the catching ability to play like an H back and run those slot-level routes while also catching like a TE?

I like his routes. Not overly dynamic like a Christian Kirk, but can take advantage of the space he's given and find separation. It's not splashy, but put him in the slot and he'll effortlessly rack up 5/6 yards slants.

I like Samuels a lot. Better athlete than given credit for and highly productive. I think he could turn into a great safety valve for flacco. I wouldnt want him to end up a patriot...but thats his best team fit in my eyes

Draftwire did another 4 round mock recently. They had the Ravens taking:

1: Derrius Guice, RB, LSU
2: James Washington, WR, Oklahoma
3: Ian Thomas, TE, Indiana
4: Tyron Crowder, G, Clemson

I don't mind Guice in the 1st. Not a huge fan of taking a RB there, but he'd bring some real fire and smash mouth playstyle to our offense. I really don't want us to draft Washington. He has potential, but we suck at molding project WRs. For Thomas, I've been a fan of his for awhile. Really think he could shine here. Don't really know much about Crowder but I'd happily bring in some guards with potential.

That's really a bad mock.

RB in the first with our current backfield would be incredibly stupid. And for the 100th time - guy's LSU player. Not gonna be a Raven.
All offense in early rounds would be overkill, having in mind that we need to beef up our defensive front (interior rusher, ILB) and possibly get another decent corner due to all the injuries.
