Mock Central

Draftwire did another 4 round mock recently. They had the Ravens taking:

1: Derrius Guice, RB, LSU
2: James Washington, WR, Oklahoma
3: Ian Thomas, TE, Indiana
4: Tyron Crowder, G, Clemson

I don't mind Guice in the 1st. Not a huge fan of taking a RB there, but he'd bring some real fire and smash mouth playstyle to our offense. I really don't want us to draft Washington. He has potential, but we suck at molding project WRs. For Thomas, I've been a fan of his for awhile. Really think he could shine here. Don't really know much about Crowder but I'd happily bring in some guards with potential.

That must be the 4th or 5th mock that has had us taking Guice in the 1st. I'm not a fan of taking a RB in the first with Collins playing so well and Dixon returning. Wouldn't be completely against one in the later rounds but we need receivers & o-line before RB IMO.

I can't stand seeing so many outlets mock Washington to us early and I can't stand seeing so many people on Facebook clamoring for him at 16. People actually clamoring for him over Calvin Ridley. Smh.

Man if Ozzie drafts Washington, I’m done. Another WR who just runs streaks and fly past college DBs. Aka perriman / Torrey Smith.

Please find a route runner with natural hands. Ridley, Anthony miller, Christian Kirk is my top 3. Courtland Sutton is a hard one but I would take him too. I wouldn’t touch Washington until the 3rd

Yeah, I like Washington and I'll stand to it that he'd be a great fit but he shouldn't be a first rounder and certainly not over Calvin Ridley.

This argument is just old. People that thinks Washington is anything close to Perriman and just "runs past DBs" is plain wrong. You don't just run past DBs unless you're a 4.3 guy even in college and Washington clearly is not that. Is he a first rounder, hell no. But saying he just runs and he can't run a route is straight up wrong.

I just see way too stiff a player. Big bodied, pretty fast, big potential, but I don't want big potential anymore because we waste it. Gimme a guy who doesn't need any damn development because they're just ready, Miller and Ridley, to a lesser extent Kirk and Sutton, Washington has shortcomings that he's gonna need to work around to find his footing at the next level

And I completely disagree. What do we ask our receivers to do? Run deep or comeback routes. At least 90% of the time it's what we do. Wallace got 1800 yards in two seasons by only doing that. And James Washington can do all those at a higher level than Wallace and it's not because he's athletic, it's because he does his job very well to give his QB maximum chances whatever the play is. Stiff or not I don't really care tbh. We're not going to ask him anything complex. And he's not Perriman stiff. He's not Chris Moore stiff. He's a better option than anyone on the roster except a 100% healthy Maclin probably.

Don't know where else to put this but....Man has Cleveland set themselves up to have some special players.

Garrett is an absolute handful. Barkley at pick one is absolutely a star and a game changing play maker....find a quarterback at pick four and watch out .

Wouldn’t it be a mistake to maybe miss out on your qb?
Surely take your qb at 1 and then trade up with the giants at 2 to take Barkley and get ahead of the colts - and the giants will probably be fine with that coz they probably don’t expect the colts to go qb...

If I’m the browns I offer above the going rate to move up 2 spots and take the best qb and Barkley at picks 1 and 2

If the Giants were amenable. Barkley is a must for me if I'm picking first. It also will be a matter of which quarterback they are ok with at four.

They'll look like fools if they don't pick a QB number one and a team trade up at 3 to take the second QB. They won't pick Baker or Allen at 4.

Still think they would be crazy to take Darnold over Rosen...but its the Browns!

Can see the Colts taking Barkley at 3

They might like Allen or Baker Mayfield. Either of those offer a great deal particularly given a year behind a vet like Alex Smith.
They look foolish if they pass on Barkley.

they look more foolish if they pass on 2/3 potential young franchise qbs in the draft - a rookie franchise qb is the most overpowered thing to have in the nfl

If they miss on Barkley they'll have Fitzpatrick who transforms their secondary and can take a RB on Day 2 if they want.

Miller and Rogers gave us Guice in their mock draft. Have to admit their explanation is solid and I still love Guice as a player and person. Kind of like I loved Peppers last year even though it wasn't a need.

San Diego Tribune did a two round mock with us getting Ridley in the first and Duke Ejiofor (edge, Wake Forest) in the second. I'd be pretty happy with that in the first two rounds. Ridley goes without saying, and Ejiofor is a really talented and savvy edge rusher.
