Mock Central

Other from 4th and 12, Z constantly whiffing sacks or falling to the ground before touching the QB was the most embarrassing thing I ever saw from this team this season. Dude needs to be cut the moment it becomes financially feasible to do so.
Yet he is harbaughs favorite goddamn player and pees treated him like the best fucking pass rusher on the roster

So I went to check Drafttek's mock draft for fun although I give 0 fucks about them, but their latest mock looked surprisingly pretty realistic. They had us taking Washington, Hand, Falk and Brenneman, not a draft I like (not at all actually) but not unrealistic either tbh, and the rest of the picks looked OK value wise to me.

For all the patting on the back let's remember a lot of people here wanted Williams in the 2nd when we got him mid 3rd and for all the hype he did pretty much nothing.

I still was fine with that pick - he was a top 16 player on my big board and i still think picking him up in the 3rd round is a massive bargain - my hope is that his usage is better in year 2 and that he also improves... the ravens havent had a speed rusher like timmy for as long as i can remember - as many sacks as we've had in recent years we've never had someone who rushes the passer like timmy does - his edge bend and speed off the line is phenomenal and he showed in year 1 that he has the hand moves and dip to go with it - if he can develop his rush moves and get more snaps i really think he will be an incredible pass rusher

I mean Pees managed the Dumervil situation right. Upshaw 1st&2nd down Doom on 3rd down. Use TWill the same way.
Ok the next thing if you want your Llbs to be every down backers why do you even draft Bowser and Williams? Practice is important, but you need to play regularly to translate it into games. Ozzie needs to stop taking these developmental prospects if our coaching staff don't want to play them in their 1st and 2nd year it wastes precious rookie contracts. At this juncture he'd rather pick those high floor low ceiling guys.

dont forget mcphee... a big part of sizzle and doom's success (especially that last year) was down to pernell mcphee creating carnage with his interior rushing

and im not sure what ozzie's supposed to do better given that this most recent draft had both high floor-low ceiling and low-floor high-ceiling guys and outside of humphrey none of them played - wormley has a high floor but didnt make the active roster, timmy williams and tyus bowser have high ceilings but were rarely used...

CBS just did another mock with us getting Ridley. Honestly, I could see things going the way this mock does:

All the picks ahead of us do make sense.
Only knock on Ridley is his age, but I don’t think it’s going to have big enough impact to drop him to 16. He’s a top 10 lock. All the mocks are just wishful thinking. It’s annoying that these mock drafts have Maurice Hurst going so low. One of the quickest first steps I’ve seen from a DT in a while. Also a top 10 lock imo

Yeah Ridley just won't be at 16, For me if he is there when the Bears are on the clock then I would be amazed if they didn't take him.

I mean you are looking at 4 QBs likely being off the board by 16 so someone is going to fall further than expected.

I’d rather grab a pair of WRs in the 2nd and 3rd than one in the first anyway. Or a TE and a WR

If Ridley, Nelson, mcglinchey, James, and quan are gone, id rather see us trade back, maybe even multiple times. I'd trade all the way back to the second if we could get the value. I don't think there's any other value at 16, if we could land one trade back to the 20s, I start looking at Andrews, guice, Miller, Zeus jr, and price.

that's actually a really realistic mock for this point in the year - there's no weird outlier player that's in there and tbh they could have added Guice in the top 16 too (they didnt even put him in the first round)

i also think that trade up is fairly realistic - i dont think a qb needy team is gonna wait to let that qb get to the 11th pick - which might (depending on free agency) force some more trade ups for lamar jackson (which either benefits us by trading back ourselves or because it pushes another non-qb into our laps)

I like Vea as a player. He could be close to Ngata's level. But he isn't what we need. If we went d-line in the first, i'd want Hurst or Bryan.
Ya i agree. I like Vea a lot too, but hes really raw as a player. I like the 2 guys you mentioned but not until late first round. I wouldnt consider them at 16

I think Mcshay put Vea at 16 because thats the range id expect him to go. Hes a first round talent and should go somewhere near the middle
