The Defense, the Special Teams, and the Ugly: Week 9 Edition

If I do have to agree with something, this offense really isn't suited towards Joe. I'm well aware that Kubiak runs a WCO, but he, being the offensive genius that he is, knows how to maximize a QB's strengths. It was evident when he was here. Kubiak ran a significant amount of bootlegs, and went deep from time to time.

Flacco's a part of the problem. But I still think he can ultimately turn it around. He's flashed it at times this season, so I think he's still got it(I mean, Carson Palmer had a career turnaround. Why not Joe?). We're stuck with Joe.. Whether you like it or not. Maximize it. Build an offense where he thrives. Kubiak knows how to do that. Go get him FFS.
My point exactly. Flacco will stay whether you like him or not, might as well get the most out of him.

More deflection. It is only on the same level because it is not an anomaly. It happens more often than it should. With the offense playing as poorly as they are this season, it has actually already happened twice this season. That means it is an issue.

TBH the offense has been poor since 2013 sans the 1 year with kubiak.

that is 4 out of 5 seasons lol

It happens because the offense plays poorly. Much like the Bears game, this shouldn't even have been a possibility, but low and behold, special teams and the defense brought the game in and we see the defense collapse when they really should have outright lost.

No, it's not on the same level. The offense does nothing for the majority of the game. The defense has one bad drive. That's not the same, at all.

You're just incredibly hardheaded if you want to continue to deflect blame away from the offense and onto the defense.

Let me ask this- do you think Eagles fans are upset that they gave up two fourth quarter touchdowns today against the Broncos?

Doesn't work that way. Flacco has been paid his money already, Brock hadn't been

You really need to understand how contracts work. We are still on the hook for all the guaranteed money in the contract.

yes, but you can still make a trade and season finishing position work in your favor. no matter what we do we are going to eat flacco dead dollars, its better to eat them in a way that gives a team a benefit. 4-12 baby........4-12

Pretty sure Joe views it the way most view their jobs. I'm sure more was expected of him when he stated he would lead this team.
I said it before, an unhappy Flacco (which he clearly IS) rarely plays well. There was a point where even the announcers today were talking about this system and Marty's play calling and how they got the sense it does not fit Flacco.

I mean, imagine that you get a job, you flat out perform and get a great raise. Then they don't upgrade your computer, which you NEED to do your job well. Then they let your desk fall apart. Then all your pens run out of ink and they won't replace them. Your internet speed gets downgraded and now, you've got a manager who wants you to do lower level menial jobs.

Basically that is what this FO has done to Flacco since 2012. You gonna be happy? You gonna perform your best? Oh and are you going to walk into the office and offer 2/3 of your salary in order to get all those things? lol

Again, how do you figure it only cost them 20 yards?

It was 1st and 10.
Not sure what you are talking about, but when Flacco threw the second pick the Ravens were on their own 35. 4 plays later after the Titans punted they were on their own 16 with the ball again in their possession, 1st and 10.

theres two schools of thought here. One is that its all flaccos fault........the other is that the defense has untimely collapses. Neither is the truth or the reason we are mediocre. but there is a common denominator and folks just don't want to go there.

Now I see what you mean. Alright, that makes more sense.

I thought you were saying they only lost like 20 yards from where the punt would land.

No YOU are too hardheaded to admit it is an issue.

Talk about things not being the same. Do you really think the Eagles allowing 2 TDs is the same thing? lmao No it isn't. Just more deflection from the fact that our defense doesn't get the job done when it matters most far too often.

You're correct, it isn't the same thing because the offense executed alongside the defense for three quarters to make the fourth quarter a non issue.

I doubt you'll understand or admit this, but that's how it should work.

joe will be here next season.

after that he could be gone.

could actually draft a QB now and start him a season later.

After the scouting. There's only one QB in the draft worth drafting in the first round... And we ain't gonna get him. Even though we suck we are in no position.

So, this will be a nitpicky kinda comment, but PFF credited Jimmy Smith with the opening reception to Reshard Matthews. That was very clearly a zone coverage without seeing the play over, I'd guess Cover 2 based on where Jimmy sat), but Jimmy very clearly passes the receiver off to the inside and then very clear keeps his eyes inside on the quarterback and makes no attempt to follow the receiver.

Come on, PFF. Don't do my boy dirty and drop him to second in the NFL in passer rating.

But what he said was deflecting? Lol.. so I'm sure the defense is happy keeping a game close with an inept offense who only decides to play half a quarter. So by your standards they should be allowed to shit the bed for a drive... cause they're not happy and what not.

Also, me saying this doesn't mean they are playing up to par either.

It's a double standard. Offense can be inept for almost the entire game and that's the same as the defense being inept for a singular drive.

No it isn't the same thing because those 2 TDs had no affect on the game at all. Our defense, on the other hand, chooses their meltdowns with the game on the line.

Sure that is how it should work. No one is arguing that nor using that blame word. Only YOU. You have some need to say blame the offense and completely ignore the defense's failings. They aren't all that and they should be with the talent that is there. That points only one place.

I agree, shocked he got credited. It will be interesting to see if this gets changed.
