Offensive Coordinator Thread

the way he has opened up about it the last year or so really makes me want him to succeed not just in the game but like actually have a successful life as a human being who is alive
Yeah, I’m always down for 2nd chances. Haven’t seen how he has opened up about it. Glad he has though. That’s a really good sign that he is taking responsibility.

he was talking about how he had previously gone to rehab off the instructions of other people and never taken it seriously, how he would take shots or drinks even on gameday mornings and often smoke weed too before games and that this offseason he decided of his own accord to go to rehab - i think he now has a young kid and he finally decided to do it for himself

it also demonstrated to me how much the nfl used him as an example despite the fact that apparently multiple players have done and still do smoke weed before games to medicate etc. (crazy that its an illegal drug in the nfl at this point given its obvious medical uses etc.)

but back to gordon he was very candid about his addiction and it made me feel so empathetic and question the nfl's stance on substance abuse and the way it punishes players rather than works to rehabilitate them (until they get really really fucked up)

i really think drug abuse and the suspensions because of it should be a centrepoint for change at the next CBA

Good for Josh Gordon. Totally agree it should be a focal point if the next cba. No way with more and more states legalizing marijuana (still illegal in federal level I might add) should the NFL be suspending players for it. Especially when they are using it for health purposes. The NFL has to understand this.

Yea clear win for you guys there. The first super bowl I remember the Patriots won. (UGH) I think it is even worse considering I live in California, but my generation eats salads in school instead of sandwiches. I can't cheat or mess around because we have cameras in classrooms. I've never once seen a pickup game of football or basketball at my game, instead, we have political and racial clubs at lunch, or people play with computers. Due to the competitive nature, by my senior year, I will have taken 12 college classes already. By far the worst part of my generation is that you are forced to be a grown up even as a kid.

Wow. Seriously that's sad. Political and racial clubs at lunch?

I'm only two or three years older than you and I've never experienced that. Sure, I was the president of a political club at my high school but we didn't have Cameras in the classroom nor did we have nothing. We had a subway sandwhich place at my high school to serve healthy sandwhiches put also a pizza line, and a salad line for those who wanted it. I played in pickup basketball games all the time. And I went to high school in Walnut Creek, CA. I took 5 college classes already by the time I had graduated as well. Not as many as you but I didn't want to kill myself.

I'm pretty sure you just go to a certain prep school then. Because I turned out fine so far. I go to a nationally ranked and well respected university(and yes. Making the top 100 in a country with hundreds of really good universities is a big deal) and got into schools that were ranked higher and I didn't have to go through all of that.

I hate my generation as much as the next guy, but. I don't feel like I had to grow up early. I mean, people like @Truth and @RavensMania would tell you I'm abnormally mature for my age (19) but I don't feel that way.

That said.. The 70s and 80s did have the best music. Queen is amazing and you can fight me if you think otherwise.

In addition yea some of the stuff isn't that bad but being only a few miles outside of LA city makes everything amplified. Everything is so much more under the microscope this day and it doesn't give nearly as much freedom to do something stupid / fun. It's good in the sense a lot of this generation is more mature but sucks in certain ways. I don't know if you have seen it but California just this year fucked over education and banned books such as To kill a mocking bird are banned (it makes people ton uncomfortable smh) it's the simple stuff like that I really can't stand

Yes, even with your tangents on the boards. Off the boards you are much different.

The best pick up football game I ever recall being involved in.....

We were all 12-13 around about that age. You know, young, dumb and full of.... testosterone.
About six or eight of us. I can't recall. Someone had the bright idea of asphalt football.
Tackle. In the cul-de-sac.
Yeah.
We were THAT dumb.
I think we quit after six or seven plays.
All of us were pretty bruised, cut and scraped up by then. Pretty sure a few concussions.

Not smart. Not smart at all.

I was always involved in pick up football at the house down the street. We used the end zones of two houses lawns. Let’s just say we had a lot of skinned knees from kids jumping in the end zone to make the grab.

We played tackle on the asphalt all the time at recess when we couldn’t get on the field. I went to a Catholic grade school, green gabs and white shirts. lol We tore up more pants and shirts, knees blown out, blood stains on the elbows. Like you said, pretty dumb. It’s actually where my nickname started, refused to go down because that shit hurt!

oh yeah going down hurt. For me it would only be in the end zone ams I dove enough. I can say these games are where I learned to roll tackle or wrap up the legs. There was a big kid, built like a tank, guy that the only way to take him down would be to take his legs out. Some of the kids would jump all over him but they wouldn’t work.
