2022 General Draft Thoughts

Exactly. I just don't get that

i get that the movement skills and body control are crazy good with wilson, i get that he's well coached and has some route running upside

but chris olave's equally as explosive and fast and is also probably the best college route-runner in recent history, has more consistent hands and better length - not as good after the catch and that's obviously important but that can't be the be-all-end-all and it seems to define too much of both their grades in much of the media

i actually have similar grades on them but olave's ahead

My only issue with Olave is he doesn't even attempt to block. But Wilson can get shutdown by bigger more powerful corners in a way Olave doesn't imo

McShay said Dean could fall out of the first round. That would shock me.
He's precisely the kind of "name" player where like somebody trades up early in round 2 to get him. If he falls out of the first, he's going like 33-35 range for sure.
Much easier for teams to lean on game film and high-level SEC production after the first round.

ive been expecting this for months - think @Simba and i have talked about it a few times too on this forum - may well not even be the first Georgia LB to get drafted

but even if Dean is the next guy off the board after Lloyd, i fully expect that to be in the 2nd round
Would you be excited by him as a second round pick if he continued to slide?

for sure - wouldnt trade up for that position particularly but 100% im taking him at 45 (obviously dependent on who else makes it)
i dont have a 1st on him but i do have an early 2nd rounder - it's definitely not that i think he's trash lol...

he's a hyper-intelligent bundle of energy in perpetual motion who plays with great discipline and processing - there's certainly a lot to like about his game - it is worth pointing out though that he shares some of the same issues with getting off L2 blocks as PQ - stylistically very similar players so not necessarily a great fit to pair with Queen

someone like Quay walker in the same range or even channing tindall (who's a bit of a risk with his lack of playing time and coverage responsibilities) later on may well be better fits to pair with queen - there's a lot of guys in this class who look like 4-3 sams and not a ton of guys that look like immediate 3-4 mikes

i mean sure but there's also a bunch of other SEC and other big program LBs on day 2 of this class in particular including 2 of Dean's teammates

I hear ya there. I think Lloyd will be on the board when we pick and I'm interested to see if he's even a realistic target in the CO opinion

i love lloyd's tape lol - id legit have no issues with him being the pick - obviously you ideally want to pick another "more valuable" position but i think he comes in immediately as a force multiplier for the defence

That's how I see it. I want corner to be the pick so bad. Or even EDGE if one of the premier guys are there. But if Hutchinson, Walker, and Thibodeaux are off the board and Sauce, Stingley, McDuffie and Hamilton are off the board, then we're really looking at Davis, Lloyd and Booth.

I think any of them would be a good pick and it would be interesting to see who we pick. But I also think Davis is gone by our pick too.

we're pretty much in lock-step, i think, with how we see the top of this class lol
ive got booth up there ahead of mcduffie but otherwise i think we've probably got similar top 16 type boards

Arif Hasan has compiled a consensus big board from 60 analysts.
Unfortunately it's behind a pay wall so I can't share the article.
I have a feeling Penning will be picked much earlier. It's going to be interesting if Hamilton will go top 5.

My wishlist if we're picking at 14:

- I'd be happy with any of the "consensus top 10" except Stingley - I don't take kindly to "effort flags" and would hate taking that kind of player that high. I really don't care about the talent level in that case.

- I'd be extatic: Jordan Davis
- I'd be really happy: Karlaftis, McDuffie, Wyatt (*if and only if* the DV is false, otherwise, fuck him, hope he goes undrafted in that case)
- I'd be happy: Booth
- I'd be pissed: Any ILB
- I'd throw a tantrum with: Any WR (fuck that primadonna position, I want neanderthal football), Lindenbaum

I wish I wanted Penning, he fits the neandethal mode, but he seems to be far too undisciplined and he'd be riding the bench pretty soon after a few personal fouls.

what if i told you the effort flags are mostly bullshit...
the same bullshit kind of tag some have been giving thibodeaux and that's equally as bullshit lol...

Ecstatic with Thibodeuax, Stingley, Sauce or Jermaine Johnson.
Thrilled with Jordan Davis, Cross, Hamilton or Lloyd.
Happy with McDuffie, Penning or Walker.
Pissed if we select Karliftis or Linderbaum at 14. Would be fine with selecting them if we traded down to the 20s...
