2022 General Draft Thoughts

I think Sauce > Stingley. Not by a ton. It's more of just preference. However, I think Sauce goes top 5. I think Stingley goes top 11.
He's definitely a safer bet due to the injury history, but Stingley played against better talent also. I prefer Stingley, especially since he played against Chase in practice. I'd be happy with either one of them though.

Carolina talking to multiple teams about trading pick 6 (back)
Anyone know what it would take to move from 14 to 6?

I think we were really high on Ojabo and now he's off the table. Wouldn't be shocked by a trade down for Booth, Daxton Hill, or Karlaftis.

idk - if we were high on ojabo, i imagine they'd also probably be pretty high on mafe too

a trade down for booth would be incredible

im just not sure i see the ravens being high on karlaftis and im not that high either - that said, if we draft him, obviously id be well into the violence and power he offers

is drake jackson any good? Watching a little of him right now and he look like a monster.. what isnt im missing?

he's an insanely high ceiling prospect who's best 5 pass rushes you can put up against anyone

but a lot of what you have to do is projection - he's very limited in his repertoire and didnt develop from 2020 to 2021 the way people hoped... now you have to take into account the coaching and his weight too, they seemed to ask him to drop to 250ish after he dominated at 270 as a freshman and he's now back up at 270 where he has outrageous potential

he's someone who's massively boom or bust and that's why his highlight tape is insane - there's risk involved but he's got basically every trait you're looking for as long as he can improve his play-strength with the extra weight he put on to get to 270...

needs to develop some pass rush moves beyond just a dip and rip and bend though

most likely our 1st, 2nd and 4th
I am a huge believer that we need to leave this draft with a major impact player. Every good team in our confrence added more than we did this offseason. I loveeee Marcus Williams, but he isnt JC Jackson AND K mack if that makes sense.

With that, not a chance in hell am I cool with giving up a second round pick this year.

I think 8-10 range to trade up is the perfect equilibrium of a chance at KT, Stingley, or Sauce without giving up too much capital.
A 3rd and 4th should allow us to do that

These mock drafts make me so upset seeing us take Linderbaum at 14 or some of these other players. It is like they don't even try

The last 4 I clicked on- Trevor Penning, Linderbaum, Karlaftis and Loyld.
Loyld is the only player I want at all, but certainly not at 14. If that is what the board looks like trade the hell down.

The one thing regarding trading up this year that makes it slightly more likely is our original draft position. This is a rare opportunity to be able to move and get a premium talent without a huge investment. We've tried to make aggressive moves in the past, like going up to get Khalil Mack for instance. Now is there a Khalil Mack in this draft? I don't see it, but there are still a bunch of very good players and if one comes within striking distance, I wouldn't rule it out by any means. I would still consider it much more on the unlikely side but there's an avenue to make it up there if someone we deem top 5 or so slips to the end of the top 10.

ive never even heard of micah mcfadden... any thoughts on him if you've watched any?
A downhill, read and react Mike with good instincts in coverage and as a run defender. Definitely doesn't have the top end speed or change of direction ability of someone like Queen, but has a hair trigger and great explosiveness to make up for short comings there. Also in general plays with an incredible fire that's contagious.

In short, won't be a star but could be a really good role player, and clean up tackler on defense.
