2022 General Draft Thoughts

I’m going under the assumption that both Stingley and Sauce are gone. If we pass on either of them for Penning.. imma rage quit so hard..

i cant remember the last time the ravens were even considering a non-exceptional athlete in R1...
that being said, basically everyone they might take at this point passes that criterion

I was all over tremaine Edmunds in that class - thought he was an elite LB prospect and had him ahead of Roquan on my board...
after we traded out those next 3 picks were all elite picks: Edmunds, Derwin James and jaire Alexander
I was hoping roquan dropped us so bad..

Yea i didnt like the fact that some of you had edmunds over roquan lol.. to me their tape was night and day.. edmunds still decent but he was never instinctive enough for me

Is there any trade down that we can do to get 2 first round picks? Or would it require a trade down followed by a trade up?

Well if KC really wanted someone at 14 they may do it. Otherwise I think best case is a first, second and maybe a 3rd or 4th
I personally would consider that KC trade. Bu there's probably an even better option that comes from the trade down and then back up. The only players I am staying pat at 14 for are:

Aiden Hutchinson
Kayvon Thibodeaux
Travon Walker
Jermaine Johnson

Sauce Gardner
Derek Stingley
Kyle Hamilton

Evan Neal
Ickey Ekwonu
Charles Cross

If these 10 are all off the board, which may be likely if there's no run on QBs, then PLEASE trade back and grab Booth and Ebiketie.

Think about the defense after a RD1 like that.

DL:
Campbell, Pierce, Madubuike

EDGE:
Oweh, Ebiketie, Bowser, Ferguson

ILB:
Queen, Bynes

CB:
Marlon, Peters, Booth

S:
Williams, Clark

That's likely 4 upgrades over last year and hopefully progressions from Queen, Oweh, and Mad. Would be huge.

I'm so sad Ojabo got hurt too. LOVED that guy. If he's there late in the second, I'm taking no matter if we already took an edge

A couple do it all linemen and a swing tackle would definitely fix our o-line depth.

Then grab Mathis, Winfrey or Jones in the second and we are set.

Are you higher on Ebiketie this year then you were on Oweh last year?

oweh changed everything - the ravens never drafted guys like that before - he fit neither of the 2 physical profiles we draft and hit none of the traditional production bench-marks we look for

oweh's changed how i look at EDGE (for the ravens specifically)

drafting oweh really has helped me not be hamstrung by production at all now when i watch guys (where it was always in the back of my mind before because we never drafted guys who didnt produce) - it's probably raised the grades on Ebiketie and Mafe (and Ojabo pre-injury) and even Travon Walker...

KC's 2 late 1st rounders are pretty close to being straight up the right value
might have to do the same as last year when we got an extra 1st rounder from them and give them a day 2 pick back

it might look something like this:
14 and 76
for
29, 30 and 121

and EDC will like that doubly as much because not only does it give us an extra 1st round pick but it gives us an extra pick in total too

GB might throw us their 2 1st rounders too but we'd most likely have to give up 45 to do it if we wanted both their 1st rounders...
14 and 45
for
22, 28 and 92

but equally as likely is we'd just take the 53rd or 59th pick in the 2nd round straight up to move back from 14 to 22 and acquire that extra 2nd rounder instead without having to give up any extra capital

the reason those 2 teams work also, is that both are pretty significantly in the market for a WR and will likely want to get ahead of the Eagles and Saints to do it - if we're looking to trade back, our best hope is that a couple of the receivers start to go... i imagine the chiefs are probably very high on jameson williams and the packers are likely to be high on olave (would be my guess) - if wilson and london go before 14 i think we very well might be fielding calls from both teams
