2022 General Draft Thoughts

Also from his website

"Michigan slot cornerback/safety Daxton Hill has been on the bubble of the first round throughout the draft process. Hill might slide to the second day, and a big reason for that would be poor interviews. Team sources from franchises that were excited about Hill said those conversations went so poorly they ruled Hill out. They worry about mental makeup issues and feel taking him in the early rounds is too risky."

Does this guy know stuff or is this all just BS?

i do not know tbh - he was first on the devonte wyatt thing
but idk if anything else has been confirmed anywhere else

He's generally pretty good and well connected, but also sometimes a shill for teams that want info getting out there. So there's likely some merit and he's actually been told this stuff, but obviously not everything he's told is accurate for reasons that we know.

I see he could be straight up reporting a lie someone did tell him. Thing is though he said teams plural

Seems like there is zero reason to make these things up. Man this draft might be nuts

it's gonna be nuts anyway because there's so little certainty even at the top of the draft
normally we'd at least be 95% confident about who's going number 1 and pretty confident about 4-6 of the top 10 picks at least

this year we have some idea of maybe 8-10 of the top picks and who they're going to be, but unlike other years, we have no idea at all what order they're gonna go in lol

What Rossi said above. But my understanding based on some research last year was that Campbell is the feeder/middle man type. Teams will tell him stuff and he talks to all of the other media and bam, that's how info gets out. So could be true. Could be false. Only way to know is to see how it plays out.

and the problem with that method is then that lots of people put it on twitter so it seems like there's lots of sources around but actually it's all just come from one guy with tenuous links that arent multiple-sourced or specific enough to be verifiable

Exactly. And not to say that he's wrong by any means because he's certainly got a lot of good info (iirc he was right about quite a few things last year), but he's the type of guy that spouts info and then others start to dig. That Pickens report came out the other day and now all of a sudden, there have been tweets this morning referencing an Athletic article that is "confirming" those reports. So there's some value but the social media era now is report with no substance and guys like this can kinda perpetrate that for better or worse.

and because it's walterfootball and it's only the nfl draft there's no repercussions for unethical reporting or poorly sourced work - you elevate your hits and hide your misses and you get away with it

but there's a massive market for insiders so people are endlessly forgiving of unethical practices... just look at schefter

I'd argue there's a good reason why a guy that teams actually do talk to is still stuck working for Walter Football...

I've been thinking that Daxton Hill may fall out of the first round as well. Its possible he makes it to The Ravens in the second round but I always wonder if he's a guy that could possibly play outside cornerback full time. He did some of it in college
