The Offense Thread

just from joe himself 3 criticizing the playcalling and saying we need to be more agressive.

Why would he call out his play caller if it was joes personal decision to check down to the flat after 3 seconds or throw 2 yards on 3rd and 8?

To me it wasn't his decision, he wasn't happy, he called the coaches out, they decided to play more aggressive and sunday was a direct result of that.
In saying that joe still had to preform what was asked of him well. Minus maybe 4 games he hasn't done that

Joe played night and day better then he has all year. His footwork and velocity on the ball was there, he even squeezed a couple in.

Well when the play design is so weak and all you see is shotgun snap with the QB passing the tenth of second after he got the ball something tells me he's doing what's asked of him and not trying to see too much.

the play design does not look weak when excecuted like it supposed, see lions game lol

That is correct. I think there's this illusion that the play calling must have been better and holding Joe back when Joe had shot himself in the foot more than anything and I am saying that Joe held the offense back. As evidence, we can see how much better the offense looked when Joe was accurate with his passes and took the time to scan the field.

make no mistake, the playcalling has also been bad. One simply should not have 2 receivers running nearly the same routes

or having all 3 of the receivers go deep on a 3rd and 6

Oh and pitta who knows football better tahn anyone here including yourself and bmorebird said as much. Ill take his opinion on what he saw over anyone elses

ill take harbaugh and marty over pitta.

pitta wasent even on the team this season and last season it was trestman offense.

you'd be very surprised at how little guys IN the game know......I have been lucky and put that to the test before.....

nah but you believe a guy who wasent even on the team when marty installed his offense lol

would it shock you if Joe and Pitta talked about it when hanging out? Surely his point of view is coming from somewhere and not speculation.

I am only saying that because they are friends. Playing devils advocate here

That's exactly what I'm saying, that it was a great play design compared to what it was before.

that is not what im saying lol.

im saying its the same plays from the same playbook only executed better.

i never heard of anyone designing brand new plays on a short week well into the season.
that is pretty crazy to design new plays, practice them and excecute them in just 5 days.

But in one week we can make it all work as an offense and Flacco can all of a sudden rediscover his mechanics? All of a sudden the same methods that had us ridiculized on MNF and several weeks before are now producing 37 points?

Or there was just a part of the playbook we didn't use enough if at all?

Is it fair to say, it seems like the offensive playcalling was more geared towards spreading the receivers out more than usual

Yes, I think it is more likely Joe finally had consistent mechanics for an entire game than we didn't run certain parts of the playbook for 11 games.

Same playbook, same plays called in a different sequence, different frequency, different sets. Simply put the GAME PLAN and play calling were more aggressive and imaginative. I really don’t know(but I do) how some can’t(read won’t) recognize this simple fact. The success the GAME PLAN brought to the offense also produced confident and decisive QB play. More often than not QB and offensive success are all about rhythm and confidence. If you play not to lose, you lose.

Pitta was speaking the absolute truth, he wouldn’t embellish or lie about circumstances involving Joe. Harbaugh and Joe said what they did to defuse the press and protect Marty.
