Do you think when Joe kind of called out Marty’s playcalling after last game, maybe Marty said okay Joe we will do it your way and see if it works better. Joe then went out and backed up his comments.

And for the record, I thought I saw a spark in Joe after the Texans game. I had a feeling something good would happen yesterday. I was called a homer, but it’s all good. Hopefully Joe keeps it up next week against the Steelers. He usually gives us a good game against Pittsburgh. Uh oh, there I go being positive again......lol.

And even better, he seems to have his best games in 3 stadiums: Baltimore, foxboro, and Pittsburgh.

The play calling against Detroit was the best of the year. It produced a rhythm and flow which really sparked not only Flacco but the squad as a whole. Collins showed great speed to the edge, something we haven't seen for years. O line is as healthy as they have been all year and hopefully they perform as well against the better defenses. With some play making consistency at WR the offense could really take off through December.

The reality is...as Flacco goes....so goes this offense. Sure, he can't throw the ball and run routes, block or make the catches, but as the so-called, "Face of the Franchise" and "Leader" of this offense.....he sets the tone! Flacco was feeling it yesterday! And to be honest, I really enjoyed watching him take command of the offense and watching them follow his lead.

that's true of course - but its not like i only notice it on replay - im watching it live and see 'oh here's a play fake' and then my next thought is 'havent seen one of them for a while' and then my next thought is 'why dont we do this more?'

and it's not like the outcome of a play makes me less aware of its existence - i can immediately think of 1 bootleg that didnt go as planned from this week but that doesnt mean i didnt notice it because it was unsuccessful...

even if i havent been noticing it earlier in the season, ive always been conscious of playcalls like that and ive been especially conscious of it since the bye week because i hoped and expected us to use it more given our success on playaction calls opening up some intermediate passing lanes earlier in the year - and then we'd still not use it more... until this week

Except, the outcome of a play is likely to influence whether we remember it or not.

Honestly, I bet you and 90% of fans didn't remember that it was a play action fake with Collins split wide on the play where Flacco was intercepted throwing to Woodhead. We don't likely remember down, distance, score, quarter, that it was from shotgun, etc. Why would we? The play was an interception.

Hypothetical here, but if during week four the Ravens ran a play action bootleg with Woodhead split wide and then threw incomplete to Maclin, you wouldn't remember that now. Why would you? It didn't have a positive or meaningful outcome. It was just another play.

Ultimately he is the rudder of the ship. You need many things to sail a ship, but without the rudder, everything else is just along for the ride. Obviously though, all the other components can make things very difficult for the rudder to do its job effectively.

So Harbs is concerned about Alex Collins and his migraines (understandably so). This is a little worrisome and I hope we get it figured out. I don’t want to decrease his workload at all.

Yeah, that doesn't change anything for me. And I didn't say all the units executed, but Joe certainly did.

We're not really seeing anything different. By that chart, Joe had 9 passes over 36 yards. PFF had him at 12 passes over 10 yards. Again, before this game, for six games, Joe averaged FOUR passes over 20 yards per game. Difference is he only completed one of those and looked generally inaccurate on the rest. In this game, he was 2 of 4 and one I know set up a touchdown.

its the same playbook with the same plays they have been using the entire season.

It’s really pretty simple to understand if one wants to. Same play book, same plays executed better because they were often called in an unpredictable and somewhat imaginative sequence that opened up the defense and promoted offensive success, rhythm and confidence. It also was a game plan designed to use plays and sets more often that fit better to the strengths of the squad, not the conservative “not to lose” strategy previously employed.

Dont agree. You could clearly see joe was allowed to go through progressions and take the riskier throws. Whereas previously he would just dump down.

It was a shift in philosophy which has to come from above him, after he called out marty for the third time this season

That is correct. I think there's this illusion that the play calling must have been better and holding Joe back when Joe had shot himself in the foot more than anything and I am saying that Joe held the offense back. As evidence, we can see how much better the offense looked when Joe was accurate with his passes and took the time to scan the field.
