The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

Tbf guys. None of us thought we had a fighters chance midway through the season. We have 18 guys on IR and 3 others who retired; yet we are still in the thick of things. If we play Shitsburg again in the playoffs.....watch out

Literally any other pick would be better than Perriman. He's contributed nothing to this team except disappointment.
The thing about Perriman is that he’s just there taking up a roster spot. At least contribute on Special Teams like Cordarrelle if you’re going to be a bad WR. I think he’s on a different team next season.

no question that lost timeout and stepping out of bonds were crucial. I don't remember where we were if he had made that catch, but those two moments were crucial, to say the least.

I think we would have been in FG range if he stayed in-bounds. As I saw someone else mention, in this thread or another one, Steve Smith would have made that play and we would have won the game.

We can only hope. If he's still on the team next year then that's a bad sign for the WR corps.

There is no doubt SSS makes that catch, no doubt at all.
What’s upsetting is we literally brought Maclin in to make plays like that. Instead he costs us the game. Making us use the timeout pisses me off even more than stepping out of bounds. Screw him.

We will take this L. Lets not dwell too much, hopefully this makes us stronger as a unit. Lets win out and make some noise! Im too hungover to be down about this shit. Heartbreaking loss but hey....we wear a purple heart for a reason. Most teams would have quit with all the injuries and shit weve been through this year. Credit to Ozzie and co on creating a standard here. Credit to Harbaugh for not losing this team.

Imagine if we took Byron jones... we would handle the loss of jimmy with ease, we wouldn't have needed to shell out money for a bust signing in Jefferson, we probably win against the steelers last year, we probably win last night.

Hasn't Malcom brown heated up the past 2 seasons?

i mean byron jones has been benched recently for poor play so im not sure i want jones either - but there were definitely numerous better picks than perriman

i have a little bit of a rant based on the snap counts:

chris wormley got 2 whole snaps vs the steelers - we had a gassed front 7 by the end of the game - we had 89 snaps on defence and wormley only got 2 of them... how is that sustainable rotation when he's shown that he's not a liability

and this contributes to the lack of pass rush... it is unsustainable expecting consistent pass rush when their snap counts look like this - Judon 76 snaps, Suggs 67 snaps, Henry 62 snaps

the steelers ran the ball 15 times only on sunday night and yet carl davis had 26 snaps and michael pierce had 45 snaps - that's 46 snaps worth at least of passing game non-threats for the steelers to face in the pocket and it comes back to wormley again for me because he's tall, and he's shown in limited appearances an ability to affect the passing game in some sense (certainly worthy of more than 2 snaps) - no wonder big ben had so much time in the pocket

and jaylen hill had 0 snaps vs the steelers - we had brandon carr getting beat like a drum and never once thought to give canady the role on the outside (if only to give carr a breather if not to bench him) and bring jaylen hill into the slot (might have been a better matchup vs eli rogers anyway)

i have a couple of gripes with the offensive snap counts too:

jeremy maclin had 50 snaps and led all receivers in snap counts... why is a guy who isnt playing well, obviously isnt putting energy/is in a rut leading the team in snaps?

alex collins had 29 snaps which is less than half of the total offensive snaps - dude was a wrecking ball and yet we let the steelers off by only giving him 20 touches despite having a 2 score lead going into the 4th quarter

I don’t see how anyone can be mad at the offense maybe Jmac for that dumb play costing us a timeout but 38 points should beat anyone with this D I’m still baffled we lost this game and losing with a nice 4th quarter lead just makes me so frustrated but the O showed up to play either way on to next week we win the next two we should lock the final spot aslong as the bills lose over the next two weeks since Kansas City and the chargers play each other this upcoming week

The coaches know better than us? /s

Lol I agree man, sometimes I honestly have no idea what these football coaches are thinking. I think they outsmart themselves, or stubbornly stick to a predetermined game plan/ player usage.

All I know is I’ve had enough of Dean Peas, I’ve seen enough

And Brandon Carr is awful I just don’t understand how we let him be alone on that last drive he was getting destroyed by AB Marlon on the other hand is a boss him and jimmy could make quite the duo next season fuck Brandon Carr fucking slow piece of shit

I'm very much of the mindset that if a player isn't playing, it's usually for a good reason, but there are obvious exceptions for me and one would be Chris Wormely not getting more snaps. There is not a damn chance that you should have any lineman playing 60 snaps. That's too much for a 300+ pound player. Why do you think they can explode off their joints like that and battle in the trenches for that many snaps?

I know Bowser got some good pressure and I saw Tim WIlliams a fair bit. Not sure what their snap counts were.

No real issue leaving Carr in. I don't think Canady would be better than Carr, honestly, and the Ravens played so much two deep. That's a good bit on Carr for getting beat so quickly and so easily off the snap. It was too easy for Brown.

This team has never been that good at distributing playing time among players IMO. In defense of some of the plays you have to think they come out in a set they've seen them run in then personnel might dictate that the offense changes the play. On the late Bell td run I called the run in that exact direction simply because of the people I saw on defense at the time. Pretty sure Suggs and Judon both left the field and we had the rookie edge guys out there. They do need to work on getting more guys out there. Teams like the Pats, Chargers and Steelers have no fear going pass heavy against us and consistently exploit our lack of pressure or coverage ability.
