The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

We have a guy who can do that... We just don't fucking use him.. Like at all.

And fwiw. Mosley is clearly struggling with something. He made significant strides in coverage last season and it showed. He's regressed, but I think it's clear that something is wrong
The worst part about this is “we have a guy who can do that we just don’t use them” is there are 3 possible guys. Put fuckin Tyus Bowser out there I love that guy. Or even Patrick, he’s a converted safety I think he can cover. Mosley only stays in because he calls the defense.

The stage is now set for the ultimate act of redemption: an improbable playoff victory at Heinz field.......
I’m a positive person frustrated with last night but I don’t think we miss the playoffs and I think we have a good chance of making a little noise if the offense keeps it up and the D figures itself out I don’t think any team in the AFC can beat us even with the D we played yesterday except the Steelers and pats although the chargers worry me if our D gets it’s shit together there is a lot of hope thats arguably the best team in the NFL and imo the best offense in the afc and we went toe to toe with them so it will be interesting I just wish we would’ve won so we could start running away with a playoff spot we tend to play down to comp so these next three games worry me

CJ is clearly not healthy. If anything I am just hoping we are not gonna worsen his condition any more than it is by continually playing him. He does a hell of a lot more than "just" call the defense.

Seriously. Get healthy CJ

This may be for a different thread but someone let me know if I’m wrong... if we win The next two and the bills lose atleast one game we are a lock correct considering the chargers and chiefs face off Sunday and one team will be left at 7 losses

I agree. In regards to your closing statement, it seems like given the severity of the situation they shouldn’t lull back into that susceptible state of losing to inferior competition.

The Bengals game is the one to be most concerned with, division rival that might be looking to ruin playoff aspirations.

see my last post am I missing something?

Overall Observations:

-If Joe doesn't throw that INT on the first drive Tucker adds 3 points...and we wake up happy
-LB's can't cover slow TE's
-If Marty doesn't go...I will
-running the ball at 5.8 yds per clip and you pass when killing time should be the priority
-Pass rush???
-secondary scheme questionable (I believe we have the talent to succeed)

All obvious, however, by putting it down in writing I feel better...

I know doing revision for a 1st quarter mistake is fun but do you honestly believe with how effortlessly they drove downfield that if they needed a TD they wouldn't have gotten it.

Yea know trust me I know he is the most vital thing to this defense, I just don’t think he should be required on the field every play against Pitt. (Mainly In pure passing plays) Mosley vs Bell is such a miss match

IN a nutshell we need

1: Andrew Norwell ( quenton nelson will be gone by the time we pick) resign jensen.
2: A FA WR
3: Best Pass rushing option available in the first round
2nd round: ILB (best cover guy available)
3rd: TE
3rd comp: Corner
We need Mo Wilkerson if the Jets release him (and looks like they will).

Ill try and be an optimist here:

Humphrey was not afraid of the moment, and the steelers seemed to have more respect for him than they did Carr. For his first trip to Pittsburgh??? Cant expect much more from a 21 year old. Next year Carr wont be here, and we'll have Smith, Humphrey, and Young as our starters.

Bowser also had himself a good game. Just hope this gives him more playing time

Our Oline played exceptionally well, and we may have found a feature back in Collins. I totally underestimated his potential.

Flacco also seems to be playing much better given his limited options. Other than the first drive pick he played good enough to win the game.

As for the disapointments.....

Boy oh boy did our safeties look slow. Weddle and Jefferson are cleary mismatches for tightends and running backs....its sad because those were supposed to be their strengths...we need more size and range at the safety position!(Ronnie Harrison?) I expect jefferson to take a paycut. Hes been very underwhelming this year. Too bad Malik Hooker didnt declare a year later...

Mosely really is half man half amazing. By that i mean hes inconsistent. Some games he looks amazing. Other times he looks like a JAG (Just a guy)

Where the hell is the Tim Williams we saw at alabama??? He looks so stiff and gets no pressure. He had plenty of reps vs the steelers and was a total liability as a pass rusher. Really hope he makes strides in year 2 because i dont see him fixing it this year.

Chris Moore looked like our best reciever yesterday....not a good sign.

Dean Pees needs to retire....im sick of these blown leads under him...

We need more linebackers and safeties. And i mean high draft pick talent type players. Our pass rushers should develop but we may need a top prospect once suggs retires. I dont feel overly confident with just Judon, Williams, and Bowser.

Good....ALEX COLLINS!

Bad......NO PASS RUSH IN CRUCIAL MOMENTS!

Ugly.....DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE!

To be fair, he was almost never on Bell. He was mainly asked to drop back into the deep hook zone, almost Tampa 2 deep. The one time he was in man coverage against Bell was the incompletion in the end zone wherein Mosely in good position. The issues were arguably with the defensive game-plan. Not only were our LB drops deep, but we also ran a multitude of faux A-gap ILB blitzes, which required our LBs to hustle back into coverage and then scan the field. This was meant to disguise added pressure from the secondary, but since it wasn't getting home, they were eating early and often on us.
