The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 14 Edition

I've calmed down. Game is whatever and most had us losing anyway. At least the offense is showing up and no other teams have the fire power of the Steelers. Making the dance with this current roster and injuries is an accomplishment to me, but think they have something bigger planned. We'll see what happens from there.
I'm still pissed off.

I'm pissed off because this is the exact same team we've had in all our failed seasons. Let's be clear here, if it were not for us playing scrub QB's we'd have a losing record.

If this variation of the offense had shown up earlier I could make a case for at least 2 more wins, possibly 3.

My thoughts...

This is the result you get when you play a team that is better than you. Yup. I hate to say it, but the Steelers offense is better than our offense. The Ravens defense was not equipped to defend this offence.

Our defense had three keys. Stop Bell. Contain Brown. Pressure Ben.
No one person can stop Bell, we just don't have the personel. It took several players.
No one person can contain Brown. We just don't have the personel. He had to be doubled.
The Steelers o-line was very stout. We were not getting good penetration. We had to pressure from corners and safety.

We could not manage all three tasks. We just don't have the personel. We could be really good at two, at the sacrifice of the other.
Pees switched it up and Ben took note every single time.
They had too many weapons for our roster to handle.

You are absolutely correct but some will only believe what they want to believe.

what a great front office we have for drafting talent that can deal with other teams elite players.

If someone told me after week 4 we'd lose to the Steelers again 39-38, I wouldn't even question the loss. I'd wonder how the hell we put up 38.

There's nothing wrong with losing to a better team. We don't have the personnel to handle them consistently. Ju-Ju wasn't even playing. Continued improvement on the DL will go a long way. Would love to see what could have been if Jimmy was healthy with Marlon outside as well, but giving up hope on that. We have good players, but on both sides of the ball seem to lack TRUE playmakers. Collins is working his way up, but people who it seems like teams need to really game plan against. Suggs is probably the closest thing with Weddle right behind him. No offense @29BmoreBird22. Your boy Jimmy needs to start playing full seasons to get this consideration.

This loss would have never happened under Ray Lewis and Ed Reed even in their last years where their talent had subsided
considerably.
Can we stop with the Ray and Ed years they’re long over Jesus this is a new team it gets annoying hearing about them I loved them they’re legends but it’s not like we can rewind time and bring them back new players play and new season happen

Tell me about it. I don't think he's in any danger of leaving Baltimore any time soon because you can count on him for 12+ games a season, but damn if those four games aren't the worst possible time to miss, like Pittsburgh.

The Steelers offense is head and shoulders over the Ravens offense and it clearly shows.

marlon played astonishingly well given how he was exposed last week once jimmy was out - hopefully it was a blip based on not being able to practice at all that week, lingering issue and also being thrown in at the deep end without being game planned for - because what he did tonight was impressive

carr shat the bed on the other side
Humphrey has the "want it" attitude. I saw his tweet on how disappointed he was for giving up those big plays against DET even though he was basically step for step. Barring injuries, I don't have that much concern about him. Speaking of CBs, let me also give a shout out to Canady who also played relatively well. That was a bullshit DPI in the end zone.

We will take this L. Lets not dwell too much, hopefully this makes us stronger as a unit. Lets win out and make some noise! Im too hungover to be down about this shit. Heartbreaking loss but hey....we wear a purple heart for a reason. Most teams would have quit with all the injuries and shit weve been through this year. Credit to Ozzie and co on creating a standard here. Credit to Harbaugh for not losing this team.
First of all, do NOT tell us about your nightmares of losing games anymore. That being said, this will either make us stronger overall.......or sink us to oblivion and never see the playoffs until next season.

It was a shit pass nevertheless

It was a throwup to his deep threat. It's actually vintage Flacco in that he trusts his receiver will be where he needs to be to either catch it or break it up.

My least favorite throws were actually some of gis completions where I felt ge floated it more than he should've

it was an awfully thrown ball though that deep pass - the decision was fine because he saw something he liked with wallace beating artie burns (and that bore itself out with the DPI) but he threw that miles in the air off his back foot without really setting his feet - it was mechanically by far his worst throw of the game
