The Beatdown, The Tackling and Yet Another Injury

That team was healthy and improved drastically over the next week due to a major trade.

this does not appear to be the case

To be fair, we are getting healthy after this week. Getting several starters back will be a boost, obviously losing Mekari is going to hurt but we'll be alright. I'm trying to remain optimistic....

Now that we see the two bombshell Defensive team fun facts - a. Most 400 yard passing games allowed in 7 games b. Most 40+ yard plays allowed in a season.

These pretty clearly indicate that Wink needs a philosophy re-evaluation during the bye week, we are simply giving up too many big plays. If he refuses to do this he needs to be fired, this defense is not acceptable.

The last time a Ohio Team did that to us at home was 2019 when the Browns did the same thing. Then they awoke a sleeping giant, we never loss in the regular season again and Lamar won MVP.

Bengals don't know what they just did....
I'm afraid it won't work out like that this year, we have too many injuries

I think this is then best news I heard in a bit. That is a bullet we dodged. He'll take time to fully recover and may never this season, but he should be able to play soon and I would almost rather have him out there than what we have otherwise. I'm guessing he misses 3-4 weeks so 2-3 games. I'm not a doctor, obviously, but just some quick opinion.

for those suggesting lamar's holding the ball way too long or running into sacks...

i dont see him on this list

Yeah, he does hold the ball a bit but my issue isn't holding the ball but running around and getting lost at times and running into pressure because his guys don't hold up. I think Lamar has been doing great with the OL, though. Any other QB and this OL may be on their 4th QB.

I think wink came with the same game plan as chargers however borruw is just more advanced than herbert.. probably wasnt expecting marlo to get killed the way he did neither

2 days ago Herbert was way ahead of burrow, now all of a sudden that’s not the case.

plain and simple most on the boards slept on a really good bengals team

I woke up very happy to see it was only a high ankle sprain especially with the luck we’ve had. Time wise I think it could line up well for him to be ready for Sunday night vs Cleveland or The first matchup against Watt and Pitt when we need him most. (5 or 6 weeks). Regardless he will be back for the playoffs and the harder stretch of the schedule. If there’s any time to lose him it’s now

It’s really important we win our next 3 games. We’re pretty lucky with it- Vikings on bye, dolphins who straight suck followed by a long week of rest then the bears. 8-2 and we head into the gunalet- and right around this time is when I expect many / if not all of our players who will return to be back.

If we don't fix our defensive issues then Cousins might fuck around and drop another 400+ yard passing game on us with Jefferson and Thielen. Think we should beat the Fins and Bears regardless, but the Vikes game could be a tough one.

We tried to warn them.
Yup, in 2020 burrow was the greatest qb prospect since Andrew luck and Herbert was slammed by 9 out of 10 fans and analysts, now all of a sudden Herbert is unquestionably the better qb? There isn’t a single thing to suggest that’s the case, burrow isn’t just an arm talent, he’s a stud of a qb in every aspect.

still think he was the single easiest QB evaluation ive ever done - no real question marks about anything on his prospect profile at all apart from the 1 year wonder-ness of it but you could see from how he played that he wasnt just a flash in the pan

herbert's been the better pro so far but much of that is down to just playing in more games...

Exactly, burrow got injured in year 1 and Herbert didn’t, the chargers started with a media hype train as a result, and the bengals didn’t.

5-2 considering how we started the year with all those injuries?

Bateman looked even better. He seems to have a lot of YAC potential.

People were open though, Lamar wasn't seeing the field as good as he usually does. Bengals got to him with their looks.
They weren’t open nearly as often as you think lol, Lamar was seeing the field pretty well yesterday he just rarely got time to plant and follow through with his throws. I saw a number of plays where Lamar saw receivers who were a step or 2 from uncovering but he had to scramble because there was nowhere for him to set and throw, he saw the throw he just had no opportunity.

now I know Lamar was off yesterday, his arm was shaky as hell until the second half, but the constant was that receivers were not getting open consistently and when they were he was often pressured already
