This just couldn't be further from the truth and in addition to it very misleading. It's weird how people flip the narrative. A top 5 WR? I recall you saying that he was a product of a system in another thread a while back. Yes, Thomas and Kamara are special players and the OL is great, and we know Drew Brees is good but please don't act like that offense has not been productive for a good decade. This isn't even the first time Payton has had an dominant offense, in fact it's pretty much a ritual in New Orleans.
The problem has obviously been their defense but does that all fall on Payton? I mean you have to put some of that on the Saints management, and Payton brings a dynamic offensive game and that has not gone away for years.
As far as Brees goes, he's a HOF and one of the greats in the game, but what did he do prior to his arrival in NO that was so special? He was a good QB but San Diego passed on him and went for Philip Rivers. By the time he blew up in New Orleans he was I think 29 in his 8th season in the league. You don't think Payton had anything to do with that? Nothing at all? He absolutely is an offensive mastermind who deserve a hell of a lot of credit and might win his 2nd SB this year.
