There is been a very underrated offseason move that hasn't been discussed much this offseason, which is quite surprising.

In late March the Ravens hired an Assistant QB coach, Kenny Dixon, whom most recently was serving as wide receivers coach at Georgia Tech, where he was instrumental in the Yellow Jackets' transition from an option-based offensive scheme to a pro-style spread attack.

Is this a move where we are going to try and transition our offense to a more pro-style spread attack or is this move a chance to allow Urban to be more involved in our offense or possibly both. What are your thoughts?

A league mandate. Something like both sides of the ball need at least one minority assistant or something like that. Can’t remember exactly but doubt he’d be here otherwise.

None of the above. We hired a college coach to be a positional coach. Positional coaches generally don't have a massive impact on the gameplan of the team.
If we were moving to more of a "spread" attack, very few of the moves we've made on offense from a personnel standpoint would seem to indicate that.
And yes, it could be a race thing also.

Thanks, simba. This sounds like the reason behind the move.

it is correct they don't have a massive impact on the game plan, but they do have input. That being said, it seems as though Simba hit the nail on the head.

Koch staying on staff as a Special Teams Consultant

that makes all the sense in the world - we draft the guy that randy brown thought was the best punter coming out of college in a long long time

and now jordan stout will have randy brown who revolutionised specialist coaching coaching him and he'll have sam koch who revolutionised punting with his changeups and different clubs coaching him... (and also retiring so he doesnt even have to compete for the job)

the path has been cleared for stout, he just has to walk down it now

It's likely Sam told the team he was retiring at the end of the season which prompted us to draft Stout. I say that because I'm seeing people say we forced him to retire by drafting a Punter lol. The team likely kept it quiet until Sam was ready to announce it himself. So glad to hear he is sticking around to mentor Stout.

I remember the Super Bowl when Harbaugh told him to just run around until the clock hit 0:00 lol. Then we did the same thing a year or so later against the Bengals and the NFL said not again and changed the rules taking a clever way to run out the final seconds from the game.

Oh for sure. They've known for months now. Likely a wink-wink thing to keep it quiet until after the draft so the Ravens could make it seem like they didn't need a replacement.

Incredible presser. So emotional

Tears man…

Imagine when Tucker retires.. I’ll be crushed. Gonna need to take time off from work to deal with the emotional thought of life without Tuck.
