The 2022 Offseason Thread

I remember Harbaugh mentioning something about not being able to make plays. I don't remember the words, but it wasn't clear whether he was talking about offense or defense.

he was talking about both i thought - basically that ultimately it comes down to who makes those plays in those critical situations and we just didnt make enough of them

i think that's also maybe part of why he decided to part ways with wink because as efficient as that defence was and especially on 3rd down (even when it was chopped up to hell), it's not a defence that creates many opportunities for turnovers or big plays and he talked explicitly about big plays and redzone success when talking about the offence near the beginning of the presser

so i think it was both sides of the ball

I think he referred to both, but specifically said that down the stretch the D didn't make the plays to get off the field and secure the wins. Mentioned that "if we just had made one play" we would have won some of those games.

It was interesting how he positioned all of this stuff for sure. Basically said the offense was moving the ball all game despite tough field position, but then couldn't put points on the board. And then turned around and basically said that at the end of the game when they finally did put up 7 in a clutch situation, the D would turn around and blow it.

And oddly enough, he's not wrong. I wish he would have admonished the O a little bit more but the D simply didn't do well enough.

What a nightmare. My money is on Harbaugh reaching out to his pal Culley to see if he wants his job back if Tee gets an OC position

i doubt it - my guess is dubb gets the WR group to himself if Tee leaves - only way that doesnt happen is if they think he's got more value as the route running specialist across position groups

tbf he did - talked about "empty yards" and not being able to create big plays or finish drives in the redzone
so i dont think the offence got let off the hook in that regard

I don't disagree. Just kinda felt odd how the O got the roundabout injury excuse when it came to the OL and RBs, while the D just got killed despite guys like Robert Jackson out there playing meaningful snaps.

Now when I say that, I also think Wink messed up more in the sense that he never really adjusted to losing players to injury near as much as Roman did. But still just weird how the O got a pass while the D didn't in some respect.

tbf i dont think he really ragged on the defence tbh - just that one offhand comment about poor field position and some generalisation about not being able to come up with plays when we needed them

Glad to see OL looks to be a top priority this offseason. I do think fixing the OL will help solve our offensive woes and getting players back healthy at RB.

Though if we do beef up the OL, get Gus and Dobbins back, and Roman's play calling is still holding us back then fire him. That's kinda what I feel is happening, but Roman may be on a short leash.

I love Harbs

meh.. I grew tired of him.

Are you fucking kidding me dude. If we keep Roman over Tee I’ll be fucking livid

what makes you think he’ll be a great offensive play caller though? He wasn’t that hot during his time at USC

doubt it. Culley got a nice chunk of change for being the 1 year whipping boy for the Texans during their controversial year. Time to take the family out to a nice vacay

I just don’t want him to leave. He’s made such a big impact in a short amount of time as our WR coach. I’d much rather give him a chance than have Roman around

I like Harbs but my one and only gripe with him is how he’s too loyal to his coordinators, which is a good thing for them. It’s awfully telling how you haven’t heard a peep from anyone being interested in Roman as anything

I really hope Harbaugh is serious about building a wall around Lamar. I'm all for going all in on the OL. I wouldn't even mind using a day 1 pick on an OL and a early day 2. At this point I think we take an OT in the first unless someone we feel like is elite at the edge is there.

I've been on the Tee Martin bandwagon all year-apparently somebody else sees what I see....

lol where did that come from?
There's a reason why the Bills want to interview Tee Martin-he excels at the pass game. The pass game is the future of success in the NFL. I know the Raven's are committed to the run, but its become a necessity to have a pass game-we don't! And we don't have an OC who can design an effective one. I predict Tee Martin will become a HC -I was hoping he'd eventually become ours! Hate to lose the guy.

no, I was talking about when he said it late in the season, not in his press conference.

What type of offense does Tee Martin run?
