what skillsets do you think that group is missing that hill and kelce have (outside of legit 1-of-a-kind speed)?

and i completely disagree about multi-tight-ends... that Andrews-Hurst offence has been held up as this legendary passing game force because it happened to be here during the 2019 season when we set records... but that stuff doesnt work anymore, defences have adapted to those personnel groupings and those play designs

the biggest gains to be made are still to the outside and with YAC from our WRs - 2 things that bateman's great at

3 strongest groups in the draft probably (throw WR in there too) - it's not ridiculous to think we can at least add some legit talent at those positions via free agency and the draft... im more worried about how we fill the interior DL and get younger there

1. Having a #1 WR really isn't important. A lot of teams have top tier WRs that routinely are in the 6-7 win category. It doesn't correlate to winning very well.
2. If you took Kelce and Hill, and swapped them with Hollywood and Andrews, I don't think Mahomes would complain one bit about it. And while they do fine without one, they also don't have any WR on their roster in the class of Bateman.
3. If you're going to add a #1 WR, where are you getting him from? Free agency is out of the question, because there aren't any available (and no, Davante Adams isn't going to be available, and neither is Chris Godwin, who probably isn't a #1 WR in my eyes anyway). A trade seems unlikely, because, again, who's available?
So that leaves the draft. Kind of hard to think you're guarantee to get a #1 WR outside of day 1 at this point (it happens, but it usually doesn't happen overnight and takes years to build... see Cooper Kupp), so who are you taking in mid-1st round in this draft that is a game changer at WR AND is significantly better than Bateman, who you just spent a first round pick on last year?

In my opinion, said player doesn't exist in this class.

Not to mention if the Ravens take a WR in the first round, I'm probably immediately trading Hollywood or Bateman. Still just one football.

In the end, it's not happening. Ravens WR core isn't going to look substantially different than it did last year, and that's a good thing. Its a luxury, not a need.

A deep threat clutch catcher. Maybe its how they use Brown, idk, or if that will be Bateman and/ or Brown next year...but if you see Lamar running when he shouldn't, trying to force throws or running circles in the backfield, I think we"ll have our answer.

And you're probably right on all your points. All I know is Rams had OBJ, Kupp, Jefferson AND Higbee, and they barely won the SB

what are you even talking about?
we had a top 3 explosive passing attack through the first half of the season - Brown's one of the premier separators and deep threats in the league...

and idk what lamar running when he shouldn't has to do with the WRs?

i dont get what your point is there...
they were dominating the bengals defence until OBJ went down and Higbee was injured so couldnt play in the SB either... they finished the superbowl with Kupp, Jefferson, Skowronek and some TE i've never heard of as their base offence (and this is also while Jefferson's wife is literally going into labour in the stands lol)

My point is OBJ, who scored the firstTD and Kupp, the MVP, beat an up and coming team we"ll face twice a year by just 3 points. Personally I don't see our WR's as clutch playmakers. They're good enough to get you within striking distance, but not to put you over. I think OBJ and Kupp both are. Having said that, I like Bateman and Brown, and I'd like to see more of Duvernay and Proche, just not they have the post season umph to put us over.
 
If they can't get open, he's running. More often than not, Brown was catching those lateral sideline passes for a yard or 2. That's not how you use a premier separator, imo.

While I like Bateman a lot I actually thought we had enough at receiver pre-draft last offseason, we are spoilt for riches this time around. No way we give up any significant capital for a receiver...

I agree with you. Keep in mind I listed a WR at rhe end of my draft wishlist which has gotten lost in all the responses. I'm not saying they should use top draft picks, I just threw in WR at the end because I still maintain an an additional real playmaker at that position could be the difference, especially post season

OK, but how many real playmakers at WR are you expecting to get in the 6th and 7th rounds of a draft? They're super rare.

If you want an actual playmaker WR, it'll usually cost you a day 1 pick, probably at least cost you a day 2 pick, or you trade for one and pay them a lot. You really can't get stud WRs in FA anymore either.

They have a lot of needs this year, and most likely they won't all be addressed

but that completely misses the context of why that game ended up being close... rams were running away with it before OBJ got hurt

or more likely, as happened most of last year the reason lamar was running was either because the OL fell apart or because Lamar was hot and there wasn't a hot read

and with brown catching short passes for very little gain - again context is important here... that was only happening with Huntley at QB because we didnt have the ability to threaten teams deep with huntley at QB - with Lamar, Hollywood was near the top of the league in explosive plays
