The 2022 Offseason Thread

"You rarely say this about a 5-foot-10, 185-pound cornerback, but Damarion Williams just looks like he belongs out there. We’ll see if that holds up in training camp, but secondary coach Chris Hewitt said, “I guarantee you the kid has got the biggest heart and he’s a good football player.”

Damarion and Hamilton and Likely seem to have been the rookies with the most praise so far.
He sounds like a better version of Tavon, assuming he stays healthy.

But is he a competitor

Yea thats true.. hope it can translate to atleast preseason games so we can really see him in action

for sure - it's definitely a good start to be standing out like he has done - especially with the 1 handed grabs and stuff like that

but his future will be defined by how he deals with contact through the route and we'll only really see that in the contact portions of training camp and the preseason games

i just love his energy - the more of his film i watch though, the less i see him as a pure nickel - he plays so much zone and safety stuff - think we've got a really versatile piece and i think he's someone who probably has to begin the year on special teams and eventually force his way onto the field in dime packages depending on personnel and how the rest of the guys are playing on the backend

i think if he can get himself active on gamedays via special teams, that he'll force his way into some snaps

the more i watch and see of him im not sure they're comparable stylistically albeit they did test somewhat similarly

- damarion's got really nice initial burst, decent flexibility and some power and strength to his game but i think he's more of a zone corner/safety
- tavon had elite change of direction skills - maybe not as explosive off the line as damarion but he's more flexible and i think he was technically more advanced in man coverage with better long-speed and better hands

based on everything we've seen so far though, i can see why david blackburn fell in love with damarion and stood on the table for EDC to pick him - and from how it's turned out i think EDC showed good judgement in trusting his guys in the room - can also see why blackburn just got promoted too

Very true. It's actually great we got no comments on bad snaps or anything.

lamar talked about linderbaum chasing down someone on an INT and remarked that he'd never seen a center move that fast before lol but that's about all we've heard

none of the trenches guys are really gonna get much pop at this point in the offseason - expect to hear more about linderbaum, jones, faalele when we get to training camp

i think so far the only guys we've heard not much about that id have expected to hear something from would be kolar and JAD

Agreed. JAD has been praised for athletic stuff but no so much football stuff. Kolar has just been radio silence

Jesus Christ man, give it a break. You and Chris and the rest of media are booty hurt because you can't get any information regarding Lamar and his extension. This guy proves he's a clown each and every day and it's getting on my nerves

The only thing that is weird here is Mike Florio and his minions' obsession with Lamar Jackson's contract situation. The minions' opinions are clearly designed to please Mike Florio just so, he isn't pissed. It has gotten so ridiculous right now, I tune out when I hear the name Mike Florio. A bum lawyer and an even worse football analyst.

Anyone else watching the USFL Game between the Michigan Panthers & The Pittsburgh Maulers? Both teams are 1-8 and to prevent tanking, the USFL announced the winner of this game would be awarded the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft. It's the offseason so, let's speculate. Imagine if the NFL had something like this where the final week of the season, the teams with the worst records would face off to determine who WINS the first overall pick.

Idk if that really prevents tanking. In the NFL in the worst case you get the 2nd overall pick.

I’m shocked a Jeff Fisher team isn’t .500

To be fair... you are telling me the Jets wouldn't try to win against the Jags knowing they get Trevor Lawrence instead of Zach Wilson. The Commanders wouldn't try to beat the Bengals to get Joe Burrow?
