The Movie Thread

It seems more like it's going to be a 3 hour lord of the rings style epic. Which scares me a little but not too much. It looks good, but it needs to be that epic style movie.

Aren’t both of the 2 parts filmed together lord of the rings style anyway lol - the budget for infinity war is literally around $1 billion which is insane (I’m assuming that the budget includes both movies coz otherwise that’s just not good business...)

I loved the Lord of the Rings movies, so I'd have no problem if Infinity War is in that style.

I really wanna be so into it and invested that I come out actually physically tired - bladerunner 2049 really got my Epic genre tastes going again - the idea of scale and ordeal coming across to an audience really appeals to me but I hadn’t seen a film that successfully achieved it for a while but post-bladerunner I think we have a couple of opportunities pretty soon

I’m not sure the last Jedi will be an “epic” but it will be the longest ever Star Wars film at around 150 minutes

And obviously the 2 parts of infinity war (or infinity war and the untitled sequel that’s essentially part 2 and was filmed in tandem)

Vision is going to get it the worst.

Thats hilarious, we would have been so mad to find out Affleck would become Batman. Also relevant:

this just makes me want to watch the lego batman movie all over again - genuinely one of the funniest films ive ever seen

they showed that in the trailer - i have to think he likely finds a way to survive otherwise it's awful marketing
It might be difficult for him though, since he has the Infinity Stone in his head. But I also thought Rhodes was going to die in Civil War, so maybe.

idk they showed him in a human form and i wonder if he'll find some way to "transfer" his consciousness or some bullshit

He still had the stone underneath his forehead. I kind of assumed he could alter his appearance (maybe, maybe not. I have no idea).

I wouldn't be surprised if he dies, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to keep him alive.

oh i saw that - i just meant that it may tease the idea that he doesnt have to be the exact same vision
given that there are some big characters due to die or suffer in these 2 films it seems weird that they would give one away in the trailer given that we would likely assume vision died (because of the infinity stone) anyway - suggests to me he likely doesnt die somehow because otherwise it seems like the epitome of bad marketing to me which is not something that marvel has done for a couple of years - their trailers have been mostly phenomenal and spoiler-free for their last few films

I thought the Homecoming trailers were kinda spoiler-y, but I agree with what you're saying.

oh tbf my flatmate who is a spidey superfan would always cover his eyes and ears when we were in the cinema when the trailer started so that's fair
and i have similar qualms with all the star wars the last jedi tv spots - i automatically mute and turn away from any star wars tv spot - i dont need 15 or more snippets of new footage or images or audio of things i dont need to know about in the film - the first 2 trailers were easily enough (and were maybe even too much) this film would have just as much hype if the tv spots were all just 30 seconds of the 2nd trailer with no additional footage

I've tried to avoid trailers for the most part recently. I might watch a teaser or the first trailer to get hyped for the movie, but that's it.
