ok what im not here for is the NFL showing the lamar "wtf" tweet and saying he was pissed but not showing the follow up where he said that it wasnt anything about his new C

and also not taking in the context that lamar knew the trade was happening

that said he also talked about how remarkable it is that in this day and age no one knew this was coming... and yet another reminder that nothing leaks out of the ravens ever - any stuff you hear about the ravens is either out there on purpose or it's come from agents because even the beat guys dont share everything (until after stuff has happened)
Its frustrating today. It's been talked about a lot in the media, and its pretty clear who has done their homework and knows information, and who doesn't.

Lamar knew. He might not have known exactly when they were going to trade him, but he 100% knew Hollywood wanted out, he 100% knew that the Ravens were shopping him, and that a trade was possible. There's like 10 people that have corroborated this, including DeCosta and Hollywood themselves.

So to be honest, I kind of call bullshit on his whole "wtf" Twitter thing. Like he can not like it, but acting surprised by it doesn't seem to hold up logically to what we know about the situation. Really thought it was a bad look from Lamar last night to be honest.

the wtf seemed to be more about the fact that hollywood was at the cardinals draft party than the trade itself

Maybe. I think Lamar's tweet came out before that info was available, but its possible. Certainly not how the media reacts to it.

They're still pretending like Lamar was totally blindsided by all of it and that the Ravens never told him.

there it is
a nugget about pickens too - off some teams's boards for his "willingness to do things the right way"

I still hate the thought of taking a QB in round 2. You expect your round 2 picks to be starters but if you think a QB is good enough to be your franchise guy you would picked him in round 1 so either you do not think he is that guy or you do and if you do not he will not be someone you want on the field.

i dont get that opinion at all
if you think he's a day 2 pick, why would you not take on day 2?

a guy with talent enough that you can develop into a franchise guy but you're not beholden to if he flames out or doesnt amount to anything

It's a much easier sell to management in round 2 and beyond as well. If you burn your top pick on a guy that doesn't work out, you could be looking for a job soon. If you take a good player at another position and circle back on QB on day 2 and it doesn't work out, you'll almost certainly get another shot at it. The Vikings blew a day 2 pick on Kellen Mond last year and they didn't even want him to see the field and no one cares. If it was a 1st round pick, that'd be very different.

What is a day 2 quality QB? If you think he is a franchise QB then you think he is a day 1 QB. If you do not think that then why are you drafting what you expect to be a backup in the 2nd or 3rd round where you want to find career starters? Maybe you think he will be a very very good backup or even a low end starter but what is the value of a low end starting QB in the NFL?

and there's nothing that precludes you from going and getting another 1 in the 1st round a year later

because that's an incredibly simplistic view

if the guy's got tangible qualities that you like but doesnt have the tape to make you confident in them in R1 then why wouldnt you take them in R2 if you can get them there instead...

what's the difference between that and e.g. taking a guy based on athletic traits at WR in R2

I know it's not a guarantee but Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott and many other guys weren't picked in round 1 and they're doing just fine.
