The 1st half, The Refs and The Collapse

3 points would have been a tie, so ooooooooo, yes, it was a big deal, and I would reverse your above appraisal. Otherwise, we agree. ^_^
It would have put us up 3. It absolutely would have forced the Bills into a should we got for 7 or play it safe. The 3 would have increased the likelihood of OT. But Harbs tried to end this in regular time because he had no faith in the defense. Look what happened. They marched easily. He was right.

just want to quibble with this
i actually think the OL was pretty good in a very tough situation

2 sacks and 5 QB hits against that bills edge group with a 4th string LT is a pretty decent showing i think

the problem was the 3 or 4 penalties and a couple of key mistakes at key times

but taken as a whole there's a lot to like about this OL from this game
Everything you said there was true but it ignores the hurries. I don't know exactly how many but there were a LOT

Well, there's more vindication for @Sizzle and others who have questioned Harb's ability to adjust. I like the guy, but I've been critical of him before and will continue to be. He needs to give that gd challenge flag to someone deep on the bench like the waterboy. He challenges those damn placement calls and loses them almost always. It's the least winnable challenge in the NFL, so why, if he's into analytics, does he continue to throw that flag? Cost us stopping the clock. Also, when you are behind, if you really believe in your DEF and it's not just coach-speak lip-service, you kick the field goal. You don't know how the DEF would have played with a lead. Coaching and the OFF lost this game. The refs are never good, but I refuse to hang a L on them. Our OFF scored no points and barely moved the ball in the 2nd half with turnovers. No need to blame the zebras.
Agree but zebras definitely deserve it

I'm saying this simply for conversation's sake... but if MM did get fired already, you'd wonder if part of that could be Anthony Weaver because his unit is the only unit playing some damn good ball on D. Maybe a roundabout way to give props to Weaver.

weaver's the only choice if we do replace MM at any point in-season

he was the favourite in the building if MM hadn't come back (usurping chris hewitt in the hierarchy), he's got DC playcalling experience, he was just given a promotion to assistant head coach (and a pay bump) to keep him happy, and as you say his unit is the best performing one on the defence right now

he's also got and earned the respect of some of the defensive vets on the team as we've seen multiple times in wired clips etc.

Sure Harbs went for it because he wanted to win. He wanted to be aggressive and instead, it's really nothing new- he's left holding his headset. I don't agree that he didn't trust the DEF, I think he trusts the OFF FAR too much is all. To me, it's a weakness of his.

if we'd taken the 3 and lost 27-23 you bet there'd be a bajillion fans complaining about how we knew the defence couldnt stop them and that we took the game out of the hands of our MVP QB in a critical moment when historically we've trusted him in those situations
The issue is Harbaugh is on the wrong side of these hypotheticals by 9 now

We gave up 20 unanswered points in the last 32 minutes of the game. The offense actually played well enough to put us in position to take an easy 3 point lead with less then 3 minutes left in the game, so not sure how you can put the loss entirely on them. Yes, they did not play as well in the 2nd half as we would expect, but neither did the D. which is why I say it was a total team loss, including a boneheaded decision by coach to go for 7 Instead of taking a sure lead. Just my opinion.
We didn’t score any points for 40 minutes, 40!

While I didn’t agree with going for it on 4th down we did have guys open and should have scored the TD. But even with that at the end of the day, if we took the 3 we would have lost anyway.

The coaching thing is just wild to me. Think Harbaugh was outcoached at the end for sure but don't think that was the death knell.

The death knell was players missing assignments. I watched Lamar miss open receivers. I watched Zeitler and Faalele completely whiff on blocks. I watched Bateman let 3 balls hit his hands. I watched Queen have multiple guys dead to rights and he missed. I watched Oweh lose contain multiple times. I watched Clark and Peters cover each other instead of any Bills WR.

But sure, blame Roman or MM. Makes sense.
Yup, then there’s the consistent lack of pressure because we’re down to heavy snaps for Jason Pierre paul who was living like he was retired until last weekend. Oweh needs to evolve, we’re counting on ojabo, bowser, Houston, and JPP all being able to consistently suit up and play well late in the year. Not much mike macdonald can do different besides blitz and we know what happens there

They scored under 20 just last week. It’s absolutely possible
lol, right. ….their brains were cooked in the Miami heat, and played like pooh. It certainly wasn’t the Miami D that held them under 20.

I think everybody knew they were going to come to Bmore prepared and angry after the shit show of last week. As you said, I respectfully disagree, you should not expect to win any game if you don’t score the last 40 minutes of the game.

Severely undermanned, don’t know how people can ignore that fact.

we can take that same attitude with the dolphins
but there's only so many moral victories before they stop being moral victories

we need to beat the bengals and exorcise those demons this week

so far this revenge tour has been more of a 2021 season part 2
For sure , but a lot of fans had this game penciled in as a loss and I don’t blame them. EvenVegas put us as 3.5 dogs. Feels like we’re overreacting based on the circumstance of the loss.

now we need to hope Bateman is ok for next week and I'm sure Hill is out a couple weeks at bare minimum.

What a shitty ending to a shitty week. The first 27 minutes took the edge off learning late on Friday about all the damage my place in SC suffered from Hurricane Ian. I feel like I been kicked in the teeth.

i get that for sure - but the circumstances do matter
we pencilled it in for a loss before because we assumed we were not at the bills level right now - we clearly should have beaten them today
