The 1st half, The Refs and The Collapse

Yea I definitely agree, Shannon Sharpe was giving him crap for it. But if the 4th down decisions , rightfully or not, are losing some of the veterans on defense (probably just Peters), that is not good. He was probably mad they just turned it over and didn’t pin them at the 2, and he didn’t want to yell at Lamar so he took it out on John.

That’s patently false though. Marlo and Andrews were the first guys to talk about the decision and were both 100% for it

We don’t even know that’s what peters was angry about

Well of course they are, flashbacks to Andrews consoling Harbaugh after the Packers game. Yea I agree, we don’t know what they were arguing about, I think Peters gets a pick six against the Bengals

He has like 3 on the year but most were in this game.

For context, Josh Allen per carry is the 2nd toughest to tackle ball carrier in the NFL behind only Deebo Samuel

Obviously you want oweh to make those plays but there’s a reason Allen’s viewed the way he is and it’s because he does this to everyone
They really have a stat for that lol wtf

So are we all in agreement that Queen won’t be getting a second contract here

At this rate I would be suprised if the team either doesn't select an ILB in the first two rounds or persue one in FA. Queen was having a solid season before last game but a every down ILB(Though hard to find) would do so much for this defense and those would require an early investment or us breaking the bank.

Should have drafted Nakobe Dean instead of Travis Jones. As soon as Wagner turned us down, Dean should have been a priority in the Draft.

No the issue with him has been losing contain and totally failing to bring QBs down when he has the opportunity to do so. Especially in critical situations. Like it would be one thing to be kinda low stat if he made a few splash plays here and there. But outside of the one strip (which is great) last game, he's been silent. Constant loses when rushing. Especially the spin the move. Then when he does win, again sometimes in critical situations, he just doesn't bring the QB down. Each of those times going for chain moving 3rd downs. He has like 4 or more of those this year.
Allen does that to players all the time. Yes he lost contain and they were bad but it was a good play by Allen also.

did he have a bad game though?
he had a bunch of pressures, a sack and a turnover, nearly had a second turnover there too

i get that people are disappointed with him, but it's got ridiculous - he just had a great sack in week 4, which is what people have been asking for but now that he didnt get 3 and 2 strips people are even more out than they were last week

i get that almost doesnt mean anything in the accounting at the end but that doesnt erase everything else that happened
Yea I think he had a poor game and underwhelming start to the season for a guy whos showed alot of promise. Is that related to playing out of position some, lack of talent around him, to many snaps etc etc etc.... Yes, yes, and yes. But I still expect our top draft picks to make those big plays in the moment and he has not this year. Add in the 10 guys on the defense clearly knew not to tackle the ball carrier but Oweh seemed not to be on the same page. Mental mistakes, which tbf is a reoccurring theme with this defense. Always seems to be just one guy not on the same page

I kind of laughed at Peters getting upset. Like, really, what are you mad about? Why don't you just stop them from scoring? You should be mad that the defense didn't do that, at all, for like 5/6 drives.

Can be mad that the offense did nothing for close to 3 quarters, but can't be mad that John didn't trust you and that you validated his lack of trust by giving up an 80 yard game winning drive to end the game.
I think there was more going on than this. We just don't know the details yet. I have no issues with Peters actions, I don't agree with it based on what we know, but he is a fiery guy. Not a bad thing to have someone like that on your team if he can make amends and move forward as I'm sure they will.

Early investment or not we need to prioritize ILBs who can actually cover and have experience lining up a defense at the college level.

I mean... if you're literally making long term decisions based on a one game sample size of literally anything, then you deserve to be fired for incompetence.

Again, I didn't like the call, but I think its pretty telling that not a single fan I've seen has the balls or the confidence to stand up and say "yes, I think our defense was going to stop Buffalo from getting a FG or a TD on that last drive". Literally not heard a single person say that.

I think if anybody objectively "ranked" the likelihood of outcomes that occur after kicking a FG to take a 23-20 lead, I'd say they'd be ranked in this order:
a) we go to OT
b) we lose 27-23
c) we win in regulation
...well, I've been saying it. :) I realize I am but a naive fan, but the unit on the field that deserved a chance at closing it out was the DEF. And given that the success rate with goal to go is 48% with the OFF we had on Sunday, as coach, I would have been prudent rather than aggressive there. I give the DEF the way they were playing - which wasn't fabulous, a better than 48% chance of getting us at least to OT. You play for additional chances, at times. But they would have had the lead assuming Tucker didn't fail.

I don't think the defense had a better than 48% chance of winning the game. Getting to OT doesn't really interest me either. Like we can talk about the offenses success/failure on 4th and short, but I'd like to know what the defenses success/failure is in, say, the last 3-4 years, in closing out games with a defensive stop with the lead. I bet its not high, or maybe non-existent.

I feel like 5th year option is not going to be picked up on him.
I don't even think it's a debate unless he develops some consistency through the end of this year. You 100% decline it if you had to make a decision today, which challenges Queen to step up if he wants a contract.

methinks that people are overreacting to the 2 or 3 plays they remember on sunday - queen dropping the pick, oweh not getting the 2nd or 3rd sack on allen...
