Way-Too-Early Prospect Watch: 2019

Call me crazy but I don’t wanna give a guy like lamar an elite wr, I worry that lamar in a tight spot might be a little too willing to just toss one out if he has one of those legit #1 elite WRs, maybe just key in on him too much. I like much better the idea of being really good across the board, I love what the rams have done with their WRs, I want something similar here but also with TEs which we already have a head start on.
I'd rather have something like Julio / Ridley / Sanu
Nothing wrong with elite

Just watched Montez Sweat and I'm blown away by the maturity in his game. I expected the lanky, bendy, raw player ala Leonard Floyd but he's one of the more NFL ready edge I've seen in a while. He looks like a top15 player to me.

Ya i see top 20 in him. Hes much more poloshed than Josh Allen even if Allen goes ahead of him, id be hard pressed to pass on Sweat. His production isnt lacking either

Idkvif you watched the breakdown of sweat vs Risner above but its really good. Both guys should be 1st round picks next year

I did, but it was yesterday night at 4AM in a nightclub. I don't even know what I was trying to do, I was smashed as a burger.

My favourite edge rusher so far is Loisiana Tech DE Jaylon Ferguson.
Violent, fast, smart, got moves plus power. Really, really talented guy.

I just watched him since you mentioned him and he does look very good. I’ll have to watch more of him but I do see what you liked in him. I’m going to watch that game vs LSU to see how did he there maybe as early as today

I'd say the Floyd kind of prospect is definitely Burns.. Very flashy as a stand up pass rusher but can't hold leverage as an edge defender and becomes a total liability in the run game.
Sweat is definitely on another level. I do agree that he should be in the conversation for a top 15 pick.
Another complete player our team should consider a few picks later is Zach Allen. Another very solid player with nice counters and clever defender who will hardly get any hype.
I'd be happy with either but Sweat is my #1 if we stay stuck there in the teens.
Josh Allen might be interesting as well (in a Jamie Collins role) but we're really starving for a Suggs replacement and he would become another Correa/Bowser with us.
Too bad there isn't much material to watch on youtube yet.

I was just looking at his YouTube clips and thinking maybe this is our 3rd round pick.. since we don’t have a 2nd

with the emphasis on pass catching backs, if he keeps this up, hes gonna push himself up boards, but kamara made it to the 3rd so its definitely possible. i would be a happy guy, its just he plays against trash, but rb is one of the easier positions to translate, and if you're talented, you're talented

I like that he's a three down player. Can hold the edge and get off the block quick.

kamara made it to the 3rd yes but the saints gave up a 2nd to go and get him which is unheard of

that 2017 rb draft was incredible - ironically leonard fournette is the least effective of most of the starters and as much as people loved him i never liked him for pure stylistic reasons

but look at all these players:

  • Alvin Kamara (top 3 RB in the league already)
  • Christian McCaffrey (also looking at over 2000 all-purpose yards this year)
  • James Conner (setting nfl and franchise records and streaks in TDs and yards)
  • Kareem Hunt (won the rushing title as a rookie as well as a pro bowler already)
those top 4 by the way are all in the top 6 rbs in the NFL for all-purpose yards this year - only todd gurley and saquon barkley feature as non-2017 draftees
now to continue:
  • Tarik Cohen (undisputed playmaker on the bears offence - not a featured runner but a great 3rd down back and crucial part of the bears offence)
  • Leonard Fournette (had injuries but done well - very 1-dimensional runner and the jags offence has ironically done better in many cases without him)
  • Dalvin Cook (looks to be in the class of those top 4 but has had too many injuries to get any consistency - recorded the fastest running speed - at any position - in the nfl on his 71 yard td last week)
  • Joe Mixon (i hate that he's in the league at all but looking purely at his on-field production he's electric and the bengals should really find ways to get him involved even more because he's a weapon)
  • Marlon Mack (starting RB who the Colts miss when he's out)
these next 5 are all significant playmakers for their teams
now to continue (yes it keeps going):
  • Aaron Jones (looks like he's about to become a featured part of the packers offence - his workload is increasing and he's getting significant yardage and touches now)
  • Chris Carson (seahawks starting rb - they miss him when he's out - top 15 in the nfl in rushing yards)
  • D'onta Foreman (earned the Texans start then got injured - eligible to return soon - we shall see if he continues to contribute)
  • Jamaal Williams (not in the same category as Aaron Jones really but has been a decent complementary piece for the Packers)
this doesnt even include the udfas either lol

Jeez... I didn’t realize 2017 RB class was that stack.

man I hate walterfootball mock drafts sometimes.
They got us drafting trevon diggs, bama cb at pick 15 over greedy williams, Montez Sweat, and deionte thompson.
