The Offensive Line Thread

I think their scouts go to the Bucky Brooks school of talent evaluation.
Bucky Brooks is probably an upgrade and that's not saying much.

It's amazing how long there scouts have been able to keep a job. Scott Campbell has been with them for 17 years and has been pro personnel, director of college scouting and recently promoted to Sr. Personnel Executive when they promoted Doug Williams to Sr.VP of Player Personnel. Basically a job to kiss Bruce Allens ass.

The skins just don't get it and it starts at thr top with Dan Snyder. The right thing to do would be for them to clean house.

Most had him pegged as a guard but the skins

ol drunk Scotty was their best hire in decades and he got shitcanned because of snyders personal vendetta.

Perhaps the worst owner in the league, after irsay.

They had pretty solid draft this year, though. Especially early rounds.

No question the best hire they've had since Joe Gibbs 1 and Bobby Beathard.

Bruce Allen didn't want to give up the power to Scot McCloughan. There last draft had his hands all over it. He was interviewed and said only one choice wasn't his.

My guess is Ryan Anderson. With the talent on the board I can't see mcloughan taking Anderson there. No knock to Anderson, he just didn't have enough talent to warrant being taken over some of the available guys

Pass Protection isn't the concern, it is run blocking and Hurst is a horrible run blocker. Howard needs to shake off the rust and I'm hoping he can do it. His strength used to be run blocking. I'm hoping Jensen is good for us as well, but again he is better at pass pro than run blocking. The scheme change could definitely help him.

Pass Protection I think will be good. I can agree on the run blocking but if we can stick with this OL unit than I certainly think it gets better. I understand that Jensen still has to work on his run blocking but lets remember just how awful Zuttah was there. He had no punch nor strength to handle anyone in front of him. I think Jensen is going to improve as a run blocker as the season goes on. Obviously it's not going to be great, but I want to evaluate things more before getting concerned about the OL as a whole.

Hurst is absolutely a concern, but I want to see more. He should manage better at G than T given that he doesn't have to use his feet as much as he used to. We'll have to see what four seasons in the NFL can do for him development wise, just haven't heard much about him which is a good thing, he also had to beat out some guys for the job.

I seriously doubt that - he will be 3 down OLB for Skins, worth mid-second definitely. Particularly paired up with Allen - they know each other like twins - it will be like a swiss watch for years to come on Redskins D line.

I agree as well. I watched s lot of tape on Ryan Anderson. He has a non stop motor and it was a very good pick doe them. I have no doubt he will be a 3 down backer

My kinda guy. He did the same at Bama as Golden did in Mizzou - do all the hard work, let other guys flash like Timmy, Shane Ray, etc and still make plays and get decent stats.
