The Offensive Line Thread

I was firmly for Jensen because of the change to blocking philosophy, but even the Ravens writers seemed to think Urschel would beat out Jensen.
I also like alex lewis alot simply cause as rookies him and stanley held up the left side pretty good, but soon as he got hurt people started talking bad about so i guess i was wrong about him

It's crazy, that's why I don't believe we're going to draft a lot of OL, because we have an enormous amount of those allready. You mentionned the starters, by year's end Eluemunor and Skura will be great depth along with Hurst as a great swing tackle. Quality and depth wise without the ridiculous amount of injuries our OL is the best in the league no doubts.
If we can draft one of the top linemen in the draft, I think our line could be set. Maybe another depth guy, depending on who leaves.

I suck at observing OL lol. The only way i will notice you is if youre giving up sacks or playing really well vs a top pass rusher like how stanley and howard did last sunday. Watching tape on OL i have no idea what to look for so i usually stay out of those discussions
I generally don't know what I'm looking for other than, did he push his man back or did his man toss him like a rag doll? Urschel was just too weak.

I think we will do every thing we possibly can to keep Jensen, but one thing to keep in mind is that CJ will be on the final year of his deal. I think Jensen stays in all honesty but it wouldn’t surprise me if he sets a new market for Cs, team love maulers and Jensen will get plenty of attention, IMO you have to keep him here. I wonder how CJ affects this.

we were tight against the cap this year and managed to bring in jefferson, woodhead and maclin as well as re signing williams to a huge deal
we supposedly have more cap space next year so i imagine even if we are resetting the market at ILB and center we can still retain them and also extend jimmy smith as well as have some money to bring in some "right price" free agents - we're never gonna be huge spenders but i feel like we can get deals done with those 3

I think we’re going to try to bring Yanda’s cap hit down. It makes sense considering that he’s coming off an injury. After that Jimmy cap is at 15M which is high, IMO I think he’s a candidate for an extension, I know people worry about his age but Harbaugh feels confident about his ability to play at a high level past 30 and I am as well. His game isn’t predicated on athleticism and he’s got a good size and build and his mechanics/IQ is timeless.

That sounds like a plan we should follow. However knowing Ozzie I know he won't draft based on needs. He'll go BPA at least in the first.
Hopefully we're in position to get a good one. I won't be too upset though, if we can get someone good at a different position.

from what im seeing so far it looks like there's some decent oline prospects throughout the draft - certainly better than last year's group anyway
There is but mostly at OT, at G after Price there's a dropoff and Braden Smith is the only one that I liked out of the bunch after that.

Question.. what should we do in the draft as far as oline? If howard continues to impress im sure we ill
Keep him. Stanley, lock for LT. yanda, Rg lock. we also have lewis and nico, but do we give up on them and draft a lineman in the 1st if one is there?
I'm all in on grabbing interior linemen. Yanda is tough as hell, but age catches up to everyone sooner or later and we clearly need an upgrade at LG. I badly want Billy Price, who can start at all three interior positions.

I think we're somewhat set at tackles with Stanley and Howard, and Hurst being a swing tackle.

Next year CJ is on 5th year option, but I feel we will extend him which will also bring his cap down,

Do you think they would extend Yanda or ask him to take a salary reduction?
