The Offensive Line Thread

As far as Siragusa goes, has there been any indication so far how his off season rehab has been?

Because there was even a suggestion he may never even play again

A guard... who also fielded questions about center... maybe they see him as yandas successor?
I'm sure he could play RG. His primary role in school was at left guard where he was a three year starter and I believe that's how we saw him, though I do remember some talk of him taking snaps at the center position for us.

Was Eleumonor the supposed Yanda replacement down the road? I'll be curious to see how much he has improved.

I can't see us not upgrading the RT position in the draft. There isn't a ton of depth so far as the left and right tackle side go.

I'd feel a lot better with McGlinchey or Williams, knowing that either could swing to the left side should Stanley go down.

On the actual OL portion of this thread, it's clear this team really believes in Alex Lewis. Harbaugh continually talks him up, sometimes without even being prompted.

Looks like from what I've read, Matt Skura will get the first chance to replace Jensen. Lewis is back at Left Guard, and Hurst will take over at right tackle. With Yanda and Stanley rounding out the line.....

I would be happy with McGlinchey at 16. We really need a starting RT and the thought of Hurst being it gives me nightmares.

Lets not forget the team's confidence in Hurst, who was consisteny praised and was in line to start at RT all last offseason until Lewis went down and he got moved to LG. He showed somewhat well at RT in the limited look we got in the preseason last year.

He's certainly come a long way in the past 2 years. Most likely because the 20 pounds the coaching staff claimed he added was actually legit. I remember seeing something about him being the first player in the weight room everyday last year.

We shall see - I imagine that would change in an instant if we get a premier right tackle talent in the draft

I think with hurst they have someone the coaching staff feels confident manning that spot and he was paid accordingly but they would obviously be happy to improve every position group

On the topic of the offensive line, I think it's naive to not see how things shake out.

How many people here believed in KO at LG after the SB? I was a skeptic. He didn't move well into the second level and looked lost. Full season there and all of a sudden we're talking best guard tandem in the NFL.

Ricky Wagner was so bad against Denver that people actually wanted Michael Oher back. Goes out the next season and is a top RT.

People were incredibly distraught when John Urshel retired because few had faith in Ryan Jensen. His play just earned him the highest salary at his position.

John Urshel actually looked like a competent starter at guard for the Ravens.

These are just some recent examples off the top of my head, but let's see it shake out. The Ravens are an O Line factory.
We really are an oline factory. Thats why im not too worried about it. I know we wont leave the oline unaddressed in the draft and who ever we get, they will get developed well

i remember people hear calling him the worst ever lol. Same goes for lewis, once he got hurt people acted like he was terrible and didnt perfrom pretty good as a rookie, yet most had high praise for nico who didnt even get to see the field. Like you said hurst was playing great at RT in preseason so lets see what he does when given the cause listening to peoples input in here about oline is something i wont do anymore

I'd agree with that. Hurst isn't getting paid "unchallengeable starter" money, so I think the team is probably comfortable but willing to upgrade the RT spot. Either way, they still need some tackle depth so I'd expect an OT early in the draft that'll at least compete with Hurst.

Zerlein is nuts. Miller isn't strong enough and plays too tall. I wouldn't consider him before round 3 and only if I'm desperate.

its weird because he says such intelligent things on broadcasts but his writing/writeup seem completely devoid of thought - normally its the other way around

Yeah I feel bad for people who use those NFL.com grades/mocks when watching the draft. So many of them are really bad. He's good for a few gems here and there (just like everybody), but for the most part... ew
