It actually starts little before - with the composition and a player choice in the draft and FA. The offense is built to be limited. And it is all connected and related.
Start with bad WR separation --> limited offensive scheme --> easy to defend --> extra hard to get separation --> bad offense --> gets figured out of the course of a game --> low or zero fourth quarter points --> blowing games
I think we can all finally agree that Greg Roman sucks ass. TIme to move on from him .
I get that whole, "get an agent" thing. I do! But, I also understand wanting to take your career into your own hands and keeping that money "in-house" so to speak. Lamar is not the first player to not have an agent. However, I do believe that his playful demeanor has definitely been affected by negotiations. He's not the same cat that we've seen on the field before the negotiations began. And there is no doubt, that Lamar perhaps, "assumed" that how he's been off the field and the excitement and energy that he brought to the Ravens organization, the city of Baltimore, and the Ravens fanbase over the past few years, warranted his receiving a new contract prior to the season beginning. That didn't happen! And now look how he's playing. Just trying to connect a dot.
I don’t get it it, the problem ain’t Roman.what is it that you guys are seeing that im not seeing today?
seen so many people getting all in their feelings about roman and i dont get what it was about today's game that did it? or is it just that whenever the offence doesn't look amazing, it's got to be roman's fault?
i cant believe this forum is turning me into some sort of greg roman defender...
i saw 1 playcall that i hate - and i wish someone would literally hold GRo at gunpoint and make him delete that play from every single playbook he and the entire team owns but otherwise i think he called a pretty good game
Have you seen our defense constantly choke in the 2nd half? Or our offense that looks average at best? You can call pessimism if you want, I call it being realistic. It's a weekly pattern.
With that being said the season has been (ignoring the defense entirely) a tale of two of two offenses, weeks 1-3, and 4-7. So if it's not the situational play calling, it can really only be one of two other possibilities. Consistent poor player execution and the scheme in general. We've certainly seen poor player execution, but today's game I'd argue was almost entirely based on the offensive scheme being almost totally understood by the Browns defense.
He may have been offered something that was "fair" and "equitable" in other people's eyes but not his. I stay out of another grown man's pockets. All, I am and will say is that I believe the negotiations (things being said to Lamar's face about why he is not worth what he's asking for) have affected Lamar's gameplay. Where he once was having fun before the negotiations began, he's clearly not the same cat now since then. Maybe he'll sign what the Ravens offered? Maybe they will offer him a little less now? Who knows? I just know that I want my "L-Jack" attack back cause this version ain't it!By most accounts he was offered a contract that was fair and equitable, but wasn’t fully guaranteed which I doubt will ever happen. Don’t think you can blame the Team, it was LJ’s choice not to sign.
Seems there’s 17 players out of about 2000 who don’t have agents. As hard it is to play QB in the NFL I maintain it’s dumb to not have an agent handle all of the business.

Navigating NFL without an agent remains tricky proposition
In a league with more than 2,000 players, Lamar Jackson is one of only 17 currently acting as their own agent, according to the NFLPA.www.whas11.com

I can understand a bad O line pass blocking day, bad Lamar's day, bad pass catchers' day but I can't understand the inability of putting it together in both the run and pass games. There are a lot of teams in the league who do it well on both sides.
For me his passing plays just all feel slow and long to develop. Also an absolute refusal to use a spread offense that would actually fit our personnel. And you don't need a ton of WR talent to make that work. Duv, Bateman, Andrews, and one other person with Gus occasional shifting from the backfield to slot wr.what is it that you guys are seeing that im not seeing today?

Idk he’s almost 50Brady will light this defense up .
I never trust him with ball security and that’s not recency bias, he runs so fast and he’s so small that I feel like he’s almost out of control sometimesHill has flashes
Exactly. Which is why he should be worrying about what he is being paid to do, play football. He may have been offered something that was "fair" and "equitable" in other people's eyes but not his. Outside of the Hill fumble what execution errors did you see today? To me its what you said about the fact that they dropped a lot and still got pressure. That coupled to being weak at WR means it was hard to pass. To me, if we are going to consistently run heavy sets, there is so much tape that shows how to defend our offense, so I dont expect the offense to get a whole lot better. The only way would come from finding a better receiving option and/or finding a way to change up the packages and get quick timing routes to get Lamar in rhythm and make the defenses respect us. Also have to find some way to get the verticality back into our playcalling its been nonexistent lately.i mean i really do think it's execution
we had at least 2 TDs that failed because of slight execution errors and also that late long drive where Hill fumbled took away points too - suddenly we're looking at an offence that scored well over 30 points without even playing that great
i do think we've got a serious WR problem but i think a much bigger problem was the pass protection today - it's tough to get open when the browns dropped 8 and it's impossible to find open guys consistently when the browns 4-6 man rushes were instantly overwhelming the OL
id love to see us spread teams out but until Likely turns into what he was in the preseason or we find some help from elsewhere (maybe it's desean jackson but i'd be stunned if he makes any real impact) we're short-handed at receiver
Me too!Exactly. Which is why he should be worrying about what he is being paid to do, play football.
I could go back and find the posts from the summer, but the fear was always the contract issues would affect his play. I hope he can turn it around and get back on track.
Doesn’t feel like it huh lol.. I’m just sick of seeing the same shit every weekIDK!!!Did we win this game??
