The Running Game, The 4th Quarter and Everyone's Blood Pressure

It does feel like the philosophy of the offense is fundamentally against the players we have available. Duv and Bateman are at their best when getting quick passes in space, and Gus is underrated as a receiving back. By all rights we should be spreading teams out, making good matchups for quick passes, and giving Lamar running lanes in the middle. Instead we have guys bunched together, and long developing plays with deep dropbacks.

Zappe, a third string QB for the Patriots put up over 300 passing yards and a couple passing touchdowns against that defense, so we shouldn't act like it just can't be done with our personnel.

Said this years ago about the philosophy and what I think the best version of an offense for Lamar looked. Laughed me out the room. Instead it’s constant 22 personal

To your last point you'd think having Bateman, Andrew, and Duv we would have had better production this week and that wasn't the case. If it happens again against Tampa then yeah it's bigger then we can imagine. I know they were trying to establish the run game, but why can't we just be balanced? I asked do we try slants/quick passes often? Lamar was getting pressured a lot today so why would we not try to get the ball out of his hands quicker? Idk I'm not too smart when it comes to offense verbiage I'll leave it to yall.
I've been asking for slants for years

I wouldn’t expect an improvement offensively this week. Tampa Tom has sucked this year, but the defense there is still really good

@Deebo813 said it already , but I’m finally ready to join.,. This team isn’t ready

@UPennChem I know you hate the Defense but you gotta admit it’s been a slow , but steady improvement. Third down defense was much better (2 for 12) and 5 sacks certainly helps.

But the thing is he clearly wants a thing that the Ravens, and probably the overwhelming majority of the NFL, are not willing to do and that is fully guarantee a deal. That is clearly the impasse. When there is an impasse the ownership is going to explain why they are not willing to cross that bridge and I can bet he is not happy to hear about that but that is the dirty part of negotiating that he signed up for.
GIVE. MY. LAD. HIS. MONEY. GOSH. DARN. IT.

I'm going to be unbiased but consistent on this one. The defense in general has been better weeks 4-7 compared to weeks 1-3. In the Browns game in particular I thought the defense played an extremely weird game. The first drive was one of the worst defensive performances by a Ravens team I think I've ever seen. They then gave up another scoring drive on the following possession. Then they start playing lights out until the fourth when it mattered. They give up a TD. Then if we don't get lucky that the refs made the right call on Cooper's OPI (these don't get called constantly) they give up a second TD and we're losing again. Same classic story. Then when they go to kick the game tying FG (also a horrible result for the defense) they get so lucky on a false start with an explanation so long I couldn't possibly understand it and they miss.

All in all the defense has been generally trending upward for a few games but with absolutely no ability whatsoever to play a clean 4th quarter. And because of that, I still HATE them.

I don't understand why Lamar reads are always high to low . Like he always trying to make the big play down field instead of just taking the easy play which may involve throwing a pass to a running back in the flat or throwing short pass to a receiver in the slot.

Tbh: the only QB i have seen reading low to high consistently was Wilson when he was at his peak with Seattle.
Anybody else is high to low. That's why you call it check down. To me it makes no sense to look first if your check down is open.

Maybe we should just take the win and move on and hope things improve if the team finally gets healthy. Maybe we get lucky, not that I would ever root for injuries to any team, but they happen and things could go south. I think we all know, right now we are not beating the Chiefs in the playoffs but there are still ten games left before that were To happen. This team is at least capable of stacking some wins against some mediocre teams we have coming up on our schedule. Go Ravens!
