Lamar Jackson

Forget Flacco for a moment. Thinking Jackson has superstar written all over him at this point is CERTAINLY being a homer. And yes that implication has been made many times.
No doubt. Even the surest of prospects can sometimes fail to breakthrough and few achieve superstar status.

I’m trying to view Lamar’s performance simply with cautious optimism. The organization signaled they are moving away from Flacco and the only question is when. I have simply decided the time to look to the future is now. We know what we’re getting from Flacco based on the last few years and more importantly from the first half of the season. Let’s see what Lamar can do.

This from Jeff Zrebiek:

Harbaugh seemed to bristle at questions about his quarterback situation, praising the job Lamar Jackson did against the Bengals but making it clear he will stick with Flacco when healthy. The question is, why? Perhaps Jackson can change Harbaugh's mind if he has another successful start against the Raiders

That’s my hope. That Lamar comes out and shows what Harbaugh was vehemently stating - that Lamar can throw the ball. If that happens natsayers will dismiss based on opponent but I agree with Zrebiek cause I don’t know how you turn away from the hot hand here.

I’d be curious for his thoughts on everything now.

Anyways, I think Lamar did well for his first start, I’m still skeptical long term but I’ll certainly root for him if we keep him in and out Flacco.

Well, you have a right to be skeptical!

That was only his first game but he played well. In the midst of all of the excitement and enthusiasm that many of us are expressing in here about Lamar's potential upswing, there is one stark reality-he's still a rookie! And, with rookies comes growing pains. That's to be expected. He'll get better and hopefully, the coaches will continue to scheme around his strengths that will allow him to shine even brighter.

I love how people say the defense shit the bed in the SB not mentioning the offense only put up 6 points second half. Both sides played well with Flacco finally carry his share of the weight consistently. I truly respect his post season run but why is that the only time his defenders want to use stats. Other than that it's some eye test, excuse ridden bullshit pulled from a giraffes ass for why his numbers dont compare.

And it is funny cause I remember the barrage of hate we got for calling it what it was years ago. @29BmoreBird22 was a soldier too. And it honestly isn't even about being right but the fact it took people this long. People were denying it like someone in an abusive relationship. As the bad seasons piled up we heard another "I fell down the stairs" logic behind it.

offense actually had 0 points and a turnover in the 2nd half.

special teams put up 6 and gave up 2 lol.

Lmao this is too funny.. everyone true feelings about
Flaccos game coming to light after ive been the lone wolf since this board was made lol.. even predicted the fact that once flacco times was up will people then finally realize how below avg he is
To be fair, a whole shitload of us said after we signed crab Snead and brown, that if joe shits the bed again, we would be done with him, because the excuse was always bad OL play and bad WR play, and he hasn’t been that pressured this year and he’s had good wr play and has still played like shit, I personally was saying this long before drafting lamar, and didn’t think for one second we would make the leap to draft him, and I was saying after FA that if he fails we gotta trade him and take a shitty season and trade up for tua.

Lamar has a ways to go. He's made good progress but still isn't ready yet. Wait..... must succumb to status quote.....

ALL BOW DOWN TO OUR NEW LAWD AND SAVIOR

Lol that safety at the end was so weird. That entire game was bizarre.

I think in the second half special teams put up 13 technically , Jacoby Jones touchdown to open the half. Then a stalled drive, then a three and out because of a dropped pass and a sack, then ray rice fumble, then we calmed down and had two really good drives that just stalled in the red zone.

Also, keep in mind, Jackson is just 21 years old (I think Darnold is the only QB younger than him that was drafted). The fact that he's already showing to be calm and collected while running the offense is a great sign of things to come as they ask him to do more.

I watched the interview that harbs did with Rich Eisen and he said “you’ll see more passing out of us as the games come on with lamar”. lol I don’t think anyone will know if joe is or isn’t going to play until literally game day.

Cause Harbs and Flacco are joined at the hip.....

I love the way the team has gravitated around Lamar - his energy is infectious and i dont know what's going on but this team seems to have lamar's back

and he's hilarious:

this from zrebiec:

Jackson admits he needs to get down more rather than taking so many hits. Jackson said Bengals defenders were saying, “We’re going to hurt you. This is the NFL.” Jackson ‘s reaction: “I was laughing.”

I bet he was laughing because in his head he was just like "You gotta catch me first"

Find me where someone said he is going to be a superstar. Does he have potential, without question, but no one on this board said he is going to be a superstar.

"Catch Me If You Can"

So how about Lamar Jackson? Will he be equal to or better than Tyrod? Tyrod has a lot of accuracy issues IIRC and he cleaned it up so I’m hopeful so can Lamar
Lamar is already better than Tyrod. Ive always liked Tyrod but he showed in his first few games as a Brown that he isn’t a starting QB in the nfl. He had excuses on the bills for never playing great but he absolutely shit the bed to start the season and held the browns back.
