Lamar Jackson

Also it’s sad some people couldn’t tell that was a joke lol.
lol I replied to a joke with joke. Everyone knows if he was really serious he’d put him in the top 6, anything past 10 is too low. The further past 10 we go the further we get from the real truth here.

Before people take my 10-12 reference seriously, I WAS JOKING. I don't watch a lot of college ball. Just started really getting into it this year. I don't know how to rate players, but I fully understand why it was worth it to move up for him. Can't give you where I ranked him because I didn't have any idea where he should go.

That said I did watch a decent amount of him because my friend told me about him a couple years ago. This run first non sense was always funny to me because it was usually by design and mostly when plays broke down. He's looking to throw and that's what gives me hope about him, but I don't think he will be some messiah. Hope he can provide consistency at the position and help lead us through the next generation of Ravens ball successfully.
If he can help the Ravens win I think everyone will be happy. I simply think the best approach now is guarded optimism.

So how about Lamar Jackson? Will he be equal to or better than Tyrod? Tyrod has a lot of accuracy issues IIRC and he cleaned it up so I’m hopeful so can Lamar

He'll probably be a whole lot better than my man Tyrod due to many contributing factors.

A major factor IMO being that he was drafted #1 overall and unlike with Tyrod, he's being pushed to succeed as a starter in the league. Tyrod was viewed merely as Joe's backup and NEVER really seen as the future of the Ravens as with Lamar. Plus, the reality (at least as I viewed it) was that our FO and fanbase was never really to keen on having a "dual-threat" type of QB at the helm back then anyway. Now? With the extreme popularity of the RPO's, fast pace of the game, offenses playing faster and putting up huge numbers thoughts about that have seemed to change.

Glad to see it!

Sorry, not on Joe. Try blaming those who paid him instead.
At what point do you rely on your franchise qb to play like one to win games though? 2013 our team was BAD, 2015 is an outlier, 2016 we weren’t the best team but if joe could have played like a fraction of a franchise qb against a team like the jets, raiders, or redskins we would have made the playoffs, 3 games against teams we honestly had no business losing to and joe put up absolute stinkers. In 2017 if he played like a franchise qb against the titans who we had no business losing to, we would’ve made the playoffs, if he played like a franchise qb vs the bengals we wouldn’t have been counting on a fill-in 6th round corner to save the day vs the bengals. I’ve always argued against this, and said the rest of the team has to contribute, but in reality the defense has been what made this team competitive most of these years, and if Flacco elevated his play just a little and makes some of the reads/throws that EVERY franchise qb makes, it would have been all the difference, another 2-3 routine throws in another 2-3 games a year, easy and simple throws that is inexcusable for a 120m qb to miss.

Sure, you can blame the FO for paying him that, but they paid him that with the belief he wouldn’t miss those basic routine throws.

Oh I wished he had played better too. However, there are no guarantees when a player signs a contract. You know that. Everyone hopes that they play up to what they are paid. But it just that: hope. And honestly, it is the going rate now. Yes, we should be able to do more now with the team with Lamar because of the rookie contract. But when that is up, Lamar will most likely get paid too. There won't be guarantees for that contract either. So, no I still don't believe you blame the player when they get paid.

And please don't excuse the defense the times they blew it because they played like crap a lot of times too. And those guys are getting paid too, as they should.

I know we’re not talking draft stock here, but where did you have him in the draft? I had him as an easy top 20
I had him at 15 exactly. Personally I had him a bit ahead of Darnold and way ahead of Allen(who wasn’t a 1st round quarterback Imo). Rosen was my #1. While he was a boom or bust prospect to me he was the highest ceiling player in the draft no question when you consider the position value.

I had Rosen and Barkley and had Jackson top half of the first round.

So joe isn’t held accountable because he asked for s mega deal and got it?

Like I said in the offseason after signing those WRs... this was the best group joe has had since the SB and it isn’t close, if he can’t produce with them then I can’t see how he isn’t the problem, if not at least a huge part of it.

I personally didn’t like the censorship of the old forum but man this place gets outright brutal at times. So much passive aggressive shots and direct slaps being thrown around here laced with sarcasm it’s almost painful to read. You guys really need to learn to chill and that this is a forum on the Internet. No issue with people getting fired up for their guys or defending their points but I feel like some of you guys are really just a bunch of dicks and assholes. It’s just not necessary.
