Lamar Jackson

I know it's just a shorts and t-shirt drill with no pressure but can't deny how great it is to see him with some clean mechanics. I like seeing him throw off the front foot a bit more.

for sure

more to the point - it’s sometimes worth remembering just how awesome Lamar’s release is - the flick of the wrist that generates so much velocity... the ball just fizzes out of his hand with minimal wind-up and I just think of what we watched to finish the season with huntley’s wind-up and then low velocity throws (no fault of his own)

Just watched the other clips and so confirmed out there with him right now are Bateman, proche, binjimen victor and Jordan lasley (who I didn’t even know was still playing football lol)

Josh Johnson out there too.
I wouldn’t mind bringing him back as QB3 / PS QB with these new covid roster rules.

Also, I just appreciate Lamar and company doing a throwing sesh while vibing out to them early-2000s raps.

So into you by Fabolous and Tamia. Classic.

if Josh johnson wants to be a raven and be QB3 then I imagine he will be... there’ll be a lot of good will towards him and he played an important part in the ravens unbeaten preseason streak too lol

hes going to be 36 when the regular season hits. Can’t imagine him getting a lot of looks elsewhere. Seems like he can be a good mentor figure to LJ.

lamar still working with Dedeaux
looks like they're still doing a lot with his footwork - so far a lot of the clips over the last few weeks have been on short drops

Where did you hear this or see this? A link would be nice.
Its on his IG stories. This youtube channel has most of it though.

here's today's

i get that not having an agent somewhat complicates the negotiating process in some ways

but also worth noting that the prevailing narrative about this process not going well are all coming from agents and former agents and sources who rely on agents (read insiders)

its so transparent that these guys are desperate for lamar to fail in his contract negotiations

It's all I've seen ESPN talk about, oh Lamar shouldn't play without a new contract, etc. Yeah what about Baker or Kyler? Like damn, stop piling Lamar and talk about something else.

it's because schefter is especially beholden to the agents

the other part to it also is that not only do the agents not want this to go well, but the insiders also don't like the fact that not only is lamar without an agent, he's also very private with his information and his inner circle doesn't leak anything ever (and likewise the ravens organisation rarely ever has leaks either)

If he didnt play they would talk bad about him.. always gonna be a lose lose situation when it comes to lamar

The bolded comment represents how we feel since we DRAFTED him.

Well there's a couple differences here:
1. Lamar Jackson is his own agent. That's a huge difference. His ability to get another contract is almost entirely driven by... him. He doesn't have an agent to negotiate on his behalf while he goes out and trains, practices, etc. Every moment he spends practicing and improving is a moment that is lost negotiating his contract.
2. Kyler Murray is going into year 4, while Lamar and Baker are playing on 5th year options (currently). That's a key difference too, because Kyler is literally just now eligible for a new contract, and many teams wouldn't even consider giving him a new contract until after his fourth season. We've seen teams start shifting towards extending franchise QBs early (after year 3), but that's also not nearly the norm.
3. Nobody cares about Baker's contract, because quite frankly, he was pretty terrible last year, and there's more questions about whether he's a legit NFL starter/franchise caliber player than there are about how much money he should get. The Browns paying him $18.8M to play this year is probably low in the market place, but its not outrageously low. If he held out, he wouldn't have much leverage.

I know this is written by our beloved JLC, but he’s been on point lately. Nonetheless, it’s a good read lol

lol - "league sources also indicated the Ravens have never presented an offer in the stratosphere of the $40M-$45M per year that other top young QBs have secured, instead focusing on long-term deals (five years or more) closer to $35M a year"

league sources lol... which league sources are gonna have any info on the deal? unless it's come from the ravens building or lamar's camp then it's complete conjecture

oh and as i read down the article look who the only real source is (unnamed) - an agent lol

the only honest guy was the agent who said he'd actually played this well so far

but everything else here is complete guess-work

is there any real benefit for the Ravens signing Lamar to a short term deal rather than a long one?
