Lamar Jackson

If I was a "franchise QB", I'd be happy to play under the franchise tag, Cousins style. I don't buy that argument of "financial security", FFS one year on the 5th year option will secure you and your ancestors for a long time unless you go all Mike Tyson with your money. So you're secure already and then anything above that is just icing on the cake.

There is of course the injury risk and you may lose out in career earnings, but how many injuries are actually career destroying? Bridgewater and Alex Smith for sure, but I haven't seen the "normal" injuries like an ACL affect a QB value much. So if I was in Lamar's shoes, I'd gamble with 5th year + franchise tag + increased franchise tag and then get a bidding war when entering free agency and be able to choose a team in case my current team doesn't look competitive enough.

I do hope he doesn't think like me and instead signs an extension ASAP.

i dont think he is - i think it's lamar

we've seen EDC get ahead on every other big contract he's handed out
Somehow I get the sense that this deal rightfully makes EDC nervous. It's like trying to haul a huge Tuna with a fishing rod. Lamar's patience and belief in himself aren't helping move things along as expected. I would imagine this puts a lot of pressure on EDC to get something done. These new QB deals aren't helping. He had to nail Lamar down last year right after Allen signed his and given him Mahomes yearly money and be done. Now, it's going to be very expensive and the Ravens are sensing it. Now, that Rodgers has reset the market per reports and Kyler Murray acting petulant for a new deal, Lamar's patience will pay dividends. Here's hoping that no matter what, Lamar stays a Raven for life.

I don't think he's nervous. EDC has said multiple times that he knows how much it's going to take and that he's comfortable with it. And they've planned for it already. If it was up to him, it'd be done already.

So, with Rodgers new deal, Lamar Jackson has primed himself for a brand new multi-year mega deal. I expect him to sign no more than a 3-4 yr deal, all guaranteed with an average between 45-50M. I expect either a 3 yr -141M deal or a 4 yr - 188M deal, with 141M guaranteed.
I doubt Lamar would want a 3 year deal and I'd expect a 5 year deal at minimum.

I don’t think it’s EDC that’s nervous , rather Bisciotti who seemed pissed thanks to the Browns fully guaranteeing Watson’s deal. Curious to see what the future holds for small market franchises

Best program I've watched in months! Watched it back to back and still want more! Our QB1's work ethic and dedication to football are unmatched in players of this era. He has old school work ethic with otherworldly talents! Yet, these morons across the punditry still doubt him and crap on his greatness.
Who's the guy working with him?

I really can’t understand the ideas 105.7 has about Lamar Jackson… Bob Haynie “if Lamar has an 87 passer rating forget about it, if he plays like he did in 19 and 20 he’s gonna get paid big” along those lines…

2020 was an inferior season for Lamar to 2021, this narrative is fucking stale, Lamar was on pace to have a better season than 2019 with less to work with, and then the Miami game happened.
