Lamar Jackson

For me, its the textbook "both sides should be content with the franchise tag" scenario. Ravens have clear issues with Lamar's durability and, assuming he wants a fully gtd contract, are unwilling to give that this offseason based on those concerns.
And Lamar thinks this is only helping his value and will probably be more entrenched in his position than ever.

So franchise tag makes all the sense in the world.
I believe the tag would be roughly around what, $45M for Lamar in 2023? That's an additional $22M increase from his $23M cap hit in 2022.
That's not a bad chunk of change in my book. Hopefully, Lamar signs it and the two sides can continue to work out a long-term deal.

Sammy Watkins, go fuck yourself, you washed up piece of shit.
I don't think Sammy has really said anything wrong, nor do I think that he's saying Lamar could play if he wanted to. (He talks about him "hobbling out there" and only being in for passing plays.)

All he's doing is wishing/hoping the Ravens best QB could play in the game. This is another bit of nothing that people are reacting to one way or another.

Does anybody even know whether Lamar was asking for a fully guaranteed deal?
I don't think we have any concrete evidence per se, but there were certainly numerous reports at the time that that's what he was gunning for in response to Watson's deal.

I am pretty sure the " reports" were baseless. Kinda something to talk about and sell clicks and views, without any knowledge of what's going on

From reporting, yes. Definitively, no.

The only definitive reported terms anybody has seen was that it was a 5 year extension worth $250M, with $133M gtd at signing. Would put him at #3 in total $, #2 in AAV, and #2 in gtd money at signing.

From my perspective, if you're turning down this deal, I don't know what other deal you're taking that doesn't involve fully gtd.

We can’t trade Lamar and have a competitive team at the same time.*
We don’t know that. With the talent level on defense they could easily carry a rookie or gap QB

The leak came from the NFLPA though, based on Lamar going to them for advice. That's the only reason we have knowledge here in the first place... because it didn't come from the Ravens or Lamar's side. The rare time I would give credence to the report because that certainly falls within the inner channels of where info comes from on more normal occasions.

No, they can't! This isn't the Raven's defense of 2000; it's 2022. That Ravens defense from 22 years ago, 22 years ago man; was one of a kind!

To my knowledge, they didn't blow double-digit leads or allow teams to run the ball on them. Ray Lewis even said:

"I told Shannon Sharpe and I told Jamal Lewis: Give us 10 points and the game is over," Lewis said. "That's not boasting. If you give us 10 points, game over. You go down against our defense, you're in a whole lot of trouble. We've dominated people like that all year. And they didn't score on us. Make sure you quote that. They didn't score on our defense."

Surely, (as decent as this present Ravens defense has played at times) you don't believe that this present defense is saying, "If you give us 10 points, game over" to this present Ravens offense; do you? Cause ain't no way in hell am I thinking that!

We let Kenny Picket beat us

That was a defense born once in a century.
